How you will make a difference: Reporting to the Director, Public Policy and Public Affairs, the Associate Manager, Public Affairs will support the execution of United Way Greater Toronto''s government and public policy stakeholder relations and communications strategy. Support the Public Policy and Public Affairs team in the development and execution of UWGT''s government and public policy stakeholder relations strategy Identify and track stakeholders, maintain organizational relationships, and track two-way communications between UWGT and key stakeholders Support tracking and collecting of programs and legislation at various levels of government; draft analysis and advice on policy positions Work directly with internal subject matter experts across the organization in conducting research across a wide range of sources of information to contribute to sound policy analysis Prepare briefing notes, backgrounders, talking points and other supporting materials for UWGT senior leadership meetings with diverse stakeholders, including elected government officials and sector leaders Support development of UWGT''s community engagement agenda, including engagement strategies in Peel, Toronto and York, identifying stakeholders and facilitating communication Support the team''s relationships between UWGT and other community organizations and support opportunities for collaboration, such as content development for policy and advocacy engagement with community agencies Lead or support initiatives to broaden organizational interest in and understanding of the role of public affairs and the importance of engaging in public policy dialogue to affect systems-level change Maintain accurate project data in support of engagement programs Manage program logistics for assigned programs including email lists, public affairs index changes and follow up feedback Track program activity and compile feedback summaries and year-end reports for analysis and planning Provide content-related and other support to the Director, Public Policy and Public Affairs and other UWGT representatives among various government and community stakeholders Lead or support other key initiatives and special projects as assigned by the Director, Public Affairs What you bring to the role: 1 - 3 years of experience in a public affairs, community impact or government relations role Post-secondary education in communications, political science or public administration, or equivalent work-related experience preferred Demonstrated knowledge of issues affecting the community social services sector, particularly in Peel, Toronto and York Region Demonstrated communication skills (written and verbal), including the ability to exercise tact and discretion Strong problem-solving skills with proven success at identifying, escalating and resolving issues Proven organizational abilities and ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines under pressure Excellent project management skills with proven ability to take initiative and carry projects to completion with minimum supervision Advanced computer literacy and experience working with database software Strong analytical skills including the ability to conduct research and develop effective tracking and reporting tools Ability to gather data/information from different sources, and identify critical connections and patterns Excellent teamwork, interpersonal and constituent service skills including the ability to work respectfully and inclusively with a diverse employee population and multiple stakeholders Excellent attention to detail and proven track record of accuracy Experience with community, government and/or political relations, advocacy, and strategic communications an asset Willingness to actively contribute to the organizational equity framework through participation in learning opportunities and implementing anti-oppressive and anti-racist learnings into action internally and externally Ability and willingness to travel across Peel, Toronto and York Region Being part of our team: Competitive total compensation package including: Salary Comprehensive benefits Defined benefit employer-matching pension Life insurance Short-term and long-term disability benefits Employee and family assistance program (EFAP) Generous paid time-off package including vacation, personal and cultural days, summer hours and hybrid work environment Commitment to the well-being and work-life balance for our employees Collaborative, high-performing, and team focused on long-term and collective success Largest United Way world-wide Work with the GTA''s top philanthropic leaders Please apply no later than January 2, 2026.
