Reporting tothe Clinical Manager,thesuccessful candidate will:assess, treatandprovide education topatients. Activecollaborationwith the interprofessionalteamisanintegral component ofthis position. JobDescription TheRecreationTherapistutilizes recreation tomaximizeindependenceandpromoteanoptimal leisurelifestyle. Youareresponsible forassessments,interventions,and evaluations topromote skill development inthe physical, cognitive, affective, social, and spiritual domains, inaddition tonon-direct patient activities. Youwillpractice inaccordancewiththeStandardsofPracticesetoutbyTherapeuticRecreationOntario(TRO). TheRecreationTherapistprovides coordinated interprofessionalcare within the health care continuum,assisting patients inthetransitionfrom the hospital tothecommunity. TheRecreationTherapist willassess patients, and where appropriate,settherapeutic goals withthepatient and family, including discharge toacommunityprogram/service. TheRecreation Therapist provides assessment ofthe patient''s physical, cognitive, affective, social, and spiritual needs andstrengths, along with leisure interests, as well as treatment topromotebetter performanceinfunctional activities, maximize potential andoptimize function formaximal independence.Alsoincludedaretheplanning and implementationoftreatmentand/or educationprogramsto improve function, independence and transitioningpatient safely from hospital to their home and/or with the connection tocommunity programs and/or services.
