Job Description: The In-Patient Medicine Program at THP consists of a total of more than 350 beds across the CVH & MH and is staffed by large interprofessional teams who support the care of complex medicine patients within the Mississauga-Halton LHIN. Our in-patient units offer first-rate care in an innovative environment supporting the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual needs of our patients. Reporting to a Clinical Manager, the ideal candidate will be focused on providing excellent patient centered care in a dynamic environment where he/she will be given the opportunity to deliver care with compassion, excellence and courage. Required Qualifications: Graduate of a recognized college or school of nursing Registered in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) or currently meet the eligibility criteria to register in good standing in the Temporary Class or General Class with the CNO Able to function to the full scope of practice as per CNO Basic Life Support certification If working in an area with telemetry, successful candidates responsible for obtaining formal certification within six months of hire Demonstrated knowledge, experience and the ability to care for patients with the following care needs: initiation and maintenance of IV therapy, administration of medication above and below the drip chamber, blood and blood product administration, patient controlled analgesia, Enteral feeds, TPN, transfusion of blood products, central venous access devices CVADS (PICCs), blood glucose monitoring, naso-gastric tubes, wound management skills, routine infection control practices, normal and abnormal blood values, oxygen therapy, tracheostomies, and chest tubes.
