What You''ll Do Sweep and clean roofs to prepare them for the application of new roofing materials Provide assistance to skilled roofers installing and repairing roofs, flashings, and surfaces Remove old roofing materials Prepare roofs for re-roofing or new roofing projects Assist with the installation, repair and replacement of built-up roofing systems using materials such as asphalt-saturated felts, hot asphalt and gravel Assist with the application of waterproof coatings to concrete or other masonry surfaces below or above ground level Pour hot asphalt and tar Clean and maintain equipment Set up ladders, scaffolds, and hoists in place for taking supplies to roofs Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities Hand-eye co-ordination Physically demanding; Bending, crouching, kneeling, handling heavy loads; Large workload Repetitive tasks, overtime required, work under pressure, fast-paced environment.
