This position will start approximately May 4, 2026, for a period up to September 14, 2026. Job description The Clerical Assistant Student with Seniors Services will provide general administrative duties and clerical support. Essential responsibilities Demonstrate Chatham-Kent''s core values and competencies Perform a wide range of administrative tasks including answering phones, photocopying, filing documents and maintaining a filing system, faxing, preparing business correspondence, incoming and outgoing mail, and proofread created/edited written material for accuracy. Provide customer-centred reception and support to residents, visitors and employees. Provide exceptional customer service which includes screening and triaging phone calls. Records management Assist with special projects to support administrative operations. Handle confidential information in an appropriate manner. Essential qualifications To qualify for this summer student position, students must currently be enrolled in school full-time for the 2025/2026 winter term (normally ending April, May or June) and/or returning to school full-time in the 2026 fall term (normally starting in August or September) Preference will be given to students who are currently enrolled in a post-secondary program, specifically office administration or business administration or related programs Administrative/clerical experience in an office environment (including receptionist experience) is an asset Customer service experience in an office environment is an asset Solid organizational and time management skills Strong problem-solving skills and decision-making ability Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel and Outlook Work environment/hours of work This position works indoors This position works weekday hours Background check requirements This position works with vulnerable residents in a position of trust and authority, on a sustained and regular basis, in a largely unsupervised capacity. A Vulnerable Sector Screen is required (Fixing Long-Term Care Act section 252 O. Reg. 246/22) prior to being accepted for employment. You must be 18 years of age or older to obtain a vulnerable police check. All staff members shall promptly provide the employer with a signed declaration disclosing new charges, convictions, orders and restraining orders, consistent with Ontario Regulation section 253 O. Reg 246/22 made under the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, with respect to the period since the date the person''s last criminal reference check under subsection (2) was conducted.
