About the Job: Reporting to the Housing Manager of Capital properties, the Maintenance Worker Live-out will primarily be responsible for cleaning, repairing, inspecting, and supporting basic fire safety within properties at SHIP. Repairs could include painting, plastering, minor carpentry, and/or minor electrical/plumbing work. They will ensure that facilities are tidy and functional and proactively identify challenges to ensure smooth business operations. Duties and Responsibilities: Support all maintenance obligations and requests within SHIP properties Update Fire Logs daily and ensure all Fire Safety standards are in compliance Inspect units annually, during move in/out of tenants, for pests, and for safety concerns Conduct general repairs within the interior and exterior of the building (electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and/or carpentry in nature) Maintain the property quality by painting, plastering, and repairing the floors, walls, and ceilings Maintain regular cleaning schedules and maintenance reports Assist with garbage collection pickup and removal Perform heavy duty cleaning (shampooing carpets, waxing floors, etc.) Maintain and restock cleaning supplies Update maintenance software program as required On call duties for SHIP''s Capital locations on a rotational schedule. Back up on call duties as assigned for coverage of vacations, scheduled time off Interact with tenants in a positive manner and update the Client Record Management System (CRMS) Coordinate with external vendors regarding building maintenance and proactively identify maintenance challenges Comply with Occupational Health & Safety legislation Complete assigned tasks with professionalism and minimal supervision Adhere to agency Health & Safety Program and the Client Safety Framework in the promotion of client safety Demonstrates a strong commitment to quality care and service delivery based on SHIP''s Mission and Values Perform additional duties as required/delegated by Management Qualifications: High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience 2+ years'' experience in general facility maintenance work Familiarity with electrical hand tools (power drills, sanders, saws, etc.) Knowledge of WHMIS, standard cleaning procedures, and products Knowledge of Fire Codes, Building Codes, and Safety Standards Able to meet deadlines and perform multiple tasks (multitasking) Ability to work with minimal direction or supervision Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment Sound judgment, organizational, and problem solving skills Clear and concise oral and written communication skills Knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook) Reporting Function: The Maintenance Worker Live-out will report directly to the Manager of Property Services. They will not have any Supervisory responsibility. They will work with both internal and external customers and will interact with all levels within the organization. Working Conditions and Physical Requirements: Hours are generally Monday Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm with the ability to work excess/overtime and on-call duties as assigned Please note this is a 9-month contract Able to sit/stand for prolonged periods of time Able to communicate via telephone and general computer use Able to lift and operate equipment up to 30lbs (tools, supplies, office documents, etc.) Vehicle travel to building/tenant sites for client support as required Ship Values: Compassion, Hope, Inclusive, Respect, Professional ''SHIP strives to be equitable and inclusive in all that we do.
