**ALMONTE FITNESS CENTRE FULL MANAGER JOB DESCRIPTION (LONG VERSION)** Position Overview The Gym Manager is responsible for the smooth, efficient, and professional operation of Almonte Fitness Centre. This includes overseeing daily facility standards, supervising staff, supporting members, ensuring accurate administrative processes, and maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. The Manager plays a key leadership role in delivering a high-quality member experience, supporting the owner, and ensuring that AFC consistently meets operational, service, and cleanliness standards. Core Responsibilities Operations & Facility Management Oversee daily opening and closing procedures, ensuring the gym is ready for members. Maintain a consistently clean, organized, and safe environment across all areas of the facility. Conduct regular walkthroughs to assess equipment condition, cleanliness, supplies, and safety. Coordinate equipment repairs, facility maintenance, restocking, and vendor contacts. Monitor the condition of bathrooms, entryways, studios, free-weight zones, and cardio areas. Ensure operational procedures are followed by all staff, including cleaning protocols and shift routines. Member Experience & Front Desk Support Greet members and visitors, creating a warm, community-centered atmosphere. Assist with membership questions, account troubleshooting, access issues, and GymMaster navigation. Respond to member concerns promptly and professionally, escalating issues when appropriate. Reinforce member check-ins, 24/7 access policies, and facility rules with clarity and respect. Ensure front desk service is consistent, welcoming, and aligned with AFC standards. Staff Leadership & Team Coordination Provide daily direction and support to front desk team members and trainers. Set expectations for service quality, cleanliness, communication, and professionalism. Maintain the staff communication binder/log and ensure team members review and initial updates. Support onboarding and training of new staff, ensuring adherence to AFC procedures. Address performance issues constructively and communicate consistently with the owner. Administration & GymMaster Management Manage member accounts through GymMaster, including overdue accounts, freezes, holds, updates, and access permissions. Review daily GymMaster alerts and dashboard items to ensure timely action. Process payments, POS transactions, refunds, and membership upgrades accurately. Perform cash float tracking and basic reporting as needed. Maintain accurate records related to memberships, communications, and operational issues. Assist with drafting notices, promotions, or member communication templates. Cleanliness & Safety Oversight Support the highest cleanliness standards by overseeing and participating in cleaning routines. Ensure all supplies (cleaners, paper products, garbage bags, etc.) are stocked. Monitor and report any safety risks, hazards, or equipment malfunctions immediately. Ensure emergency lights, signage, doors, and exits are functioning and compliant. Enforce safety policies, proper equipment use, and respectful member conduct. Communication & Coordination Maintain smooth communication between shifts and between staff and ownership. Log all important updates, incidents, maintenance needs, and member concerns. Support implementation of new systems, programs, or operational initiatives. Provide consistent feedback and proactive suggestions to improve member experience and operations. Qualifications Prior experience managing or working in a fitness environment preferred. Experience using GymMaster or similar gym management software (required). Strong customer service and communication skills. Ability to multitask, stay organized, and remain calm under pressure. Reliable, professional, and committed to maintaining AFC''s standards. Ability to work early mornings, evenings, and weekends as required. A positive attitude and passion for health, fitness, and community. Work Environment Hands-on role with a balance of administrative work and floor presence. Requires frequent walking, bending, checking equipment, and interacting with members. Team-oriented, community-based environment with high expectations for service and cleanliness.
