Hardware Installation & Maintenance Server installation, racking, stacking Replacing components (RAM, drives, NICs, PSUs, motherboards) Cable management (fiber + copper) 2. Networking Basics Understanding TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP Knowledge of switches, routers, firewalls Familiarity with fiber standards (LC, SC, OM3/OM4) and copper (Cat5e/6/6a) 3. Operating Systems Basic Linux administration (CLI confidence) Windows Server basics BIOS/firmware updates 4. Troubleshooting & Diagnostics Identifying failing hardware Using diagnostic tools (iDRAC, iLO, IPMI) Reading system logs 5. Power & Cooling Understanding PDUs, UPS systems, breakers Monitoring thermal conditions Knowledge of hot/cold aisle practices
