PHS Community Services Society is hiring for an Assistant Manager Hoarding and Room Preparation - in Vancouver. Reporting to the Project Operations Manager (POM) of Hoarding and Room Preparation, the Assistant Manager of Hoarding and Room Preparation is responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of plans for complicated and complex hoarding situations in our housing projects. This role performs regular assessments, tracking, reporting, and coordinates third-party repairs and maintenance. In collaboration with building Project Operations Managers, this position takes the lead in coordinating a team including Mental Health Workers, Residence Coordinators, Resident Support Worker Dehoarding, Cleaning & Room Maintenance, Pest Control, and Maintenance Workers, to actuate a decluttering project plan, including, cleaning and remediation of resident rooms and suites. This role utilizes a harm reduction approach when interacting with residents about their collecting and maintains a focus on safety and security measures. Key Responsibilities Responsible for communicating job expectations and providing ongoing training, mentorship, coaching, and development of staff. Provides clear work direction, assignment of duties, and conducts regular performance evaluations, maintaining appropriate documentation in a secure and confidential manner. Provides orientation as required. In consultation with the POMs, leads or supports confidential investigations into staff conduct and performance concerns. Ensures appropriate documentation, maintains strict confidentiality, and facilitates fair and timely resolution in alignment with employment legislation, the collective agreement and organizational policy. Responsible for implementing progressive discipline, up to and including termination, while safeguarding procedural fairness and labour relations integrity. Reviews, updates, and maintains staffing schedules to ensure appropriate coverage across all shifts; monitors attendance and punctuality, identifies trends or concerns, and addresses attendance-related issues as needed. Contributes to the ongoing assessment of room cleaning and de-hoarding needs by monitoring day-to-day operations, identifying service gaps, resource challenges, and emerging issues. Provides informed feedback and suggestions to the POM regarding staffing, training, infrastructure, and operational priorities. Participates in planning discussions and supports the development of responsive strategies to enhance service delivery, staff performance, and overall project effectiveness. Responsible for managing teams working to de-hoard and remediate resident rooms. Responsible for managing teams coordinating room preparation of vacated units for new resident arrivals in all Vancouver PHS projects as set out by the POMs. Following room de-hoarding and remediation, develops, implements, and evaluates project maintenance plans to ensure residents continue to be supported by Resident Support Worker De-hoarding, Cleaning & Room Maintenance and Mental Health Workers on a regular basis. Works in consultation with the POMs to establish project plans and weekly task schedules for PHS units requiring ongoing decluttering/cleaning support and prepares weekly room-cleaning task lists for Resident Support Workers, Mental Health Workers, and Maintenance staff. Evaluates and restructures Resident Support Worker approaches to de-hoarding across housing projects. Assesses and documents unit condition, sets daily shift priorities, and checklists so staff can assist residents with maintaining a clutter-free space. Performs budget duties, such as, developing project-related budget submissions. Monitors project expenditures. Works in collaboration with POMs to resolve problems. Liaises with community groups to acquire donations to help furnish and maintain resident rooms as well as supporting staff to work with community groups to access services for residents such as regular outside room cleaning, de-hoarding, light maintenance, lice treatment, etc. Consults with community groups and health care professionals, such as, the Vancouver Fire Department, the VCH Home Action Response Team, to identify best practices, seek innovative ways to support resident needs, and to prioritize health and safety issues. Connects residents with groups that offer support for people who have an extreme attachment to personal possessions that leads to a difficulty discarding items. Provides crisis intervention services in the event of overdose to the endangered individual(s). This will include but not be limited to prepping and administering Naloxone, calling emergency services, monitoring for re-occurring overdose. Reports emergency events, i.e., death, fire, etc. to the appropriate POM immediately. Qualifications/Experience Bachelor''s degree. Recent, related experience of 3-5 years Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Or other qualifications determined to be reasonable and relevant to the level of work Relevant courses or training in mental health/addictions support. Valid class 5 driver''s license preferred. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Must have valid First Aid and CPR ''C'' certification. Criminal Record Check This is an excluded, full-time position.
