Conservation Archivist Alberta Wilderness Association (AWA) works with and inspires communities to care, learn, become engaged, and take action to protect nature. The ultimate goal of our work is to provide the public, stakeholders, and decision makers with scientific and policy information (the facts, the history, the players, and the issues) that can be used to formulate opinions and take action. We use four main strategic directions to achieve outcomes: outreach and community development; research and education; corporate policy development; government policy development. What we need We are looking for a capable and enthusiastic person to help us archive and digitize our physical conservation library. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Conservation Archivist (CA) is responsible for reviewing materials for archiving, and digitizing the physical contents of our library. This will include tagging documents with appropriate environmental search terms, and filing them correctly. Status: Full-time, Temporary (8 months) Vacation: 3 weeks/year (pro-rated) Location : On site at the AWA Office in NW Calgary Salary : Based on experience Specific roles and responsibilities include: Communications: staff, volunteers, public Scanning and/or photographing files/documents for digitization Identifying documents to be sent to archives Other duties as assigned Qualifications Excellent written and oral communication skills Self-starter with excellent organizational and time-management skills Professional conduct with knowledge of archiving Able to work alone and as part of a team Communication skills: writing, tagging documents, filing An undergraduate degree in library or archival studies, or environmental studies Fluency with computers and scanners Legal right to work in Canada Assets include: Experience working in Alberta and experience working in the not-for-profit sector Knowledge of environmental issues and has a strong environmental ethic Photography skills How to apply: To apply, email cover letter and resume (as one PDF) to: with the subject line ''Attention: Search Committee''.
