Mandate GEF Seniors Housing is a management body established by Ministerial Order under the Alberta Housing Act, and provides friendly, affordable, secure housing and services to approximately 3,800 seniors in Edmonton. The Board provides overall direction and governs GEF Seniors Housing to ensure optimal organizational performance. Standing Committees Board members are expected to serve on at least one standing committee: Governance Audit Board Development Board Activities Board members are responsible for: Fiduciary oversight Strategic thinking Stakeholder relations Risk management Visionary governance Remuneration Amount Duration and Activity $50 Less than two hours for attendance and/or representation of the GEF Board at business functions $100 Meetings that are four hours or less in total $150 Meetings that are more than four hours in total Appointment Term GEF members are appointed for up to three-year terms, from May 1 to April 30. Reappointments may occur up to a maximum of six consecutive years. Reappointment eligibility follows Procedure C575E, Agencies, Boards, Committees and Commissions. It is anticipated that selection processes will take place on the following dates: January 25, Posting closes March 16, Applicant Shortlisting (Note: the GEF Board may conduct prescreening with applicants prior to shortlisting) April 14, Interviews End of April Appointments by City Council Qualifications Experience or training in regulatory, legal, or policy environments, such as interpreting bylaws and regulations. Knowledge and experience in technology, innovation, or research. Strong business acumen including experience in social enterprise. Experience with affordable housing or social care. Strong results-oriented governance and strategic thinking experience. Leadership experience working with potential funders and business leaders to develop stakeholder relationships. Time Commitment Members must be able to: Commit a minimum of 10 hours per month on Board-related activities. Attend meetings, held in-person or virtually, nine times per year, on the last Thursday of the respective month, in the early evening hours). Participate in Committee meetings hours). Have access to the necessary technology to participate in virtual meetings, if required. Member Expectations Advocate for and support the well-being of low-to-moderate-income seniors requiring affordable and secure housing and services.
