Intermediate EI&C Engineer / Technologist Control System Migration Projects Location: Calgary, AB (Hybrid) About Beta-Tech Inc. (BTI) Beta-Tech Inc. Position Summary BTI is seeking an Intermediate EI&C Engineer or Technologist to support the delivery of control system migration and modernization projects. This role focuses on detailed engineering, documentation, and field support activities under the guidance of a Senior EI&C Lead. This position is well suited to an individual with solid industrial experience who is looking to deepen their exposure to brownfield control system work and progress toward a future technical leadership role. Key Responsibilities Under the direction of a Senior EI&C Lead, responsibilities include: EI&C Engineering & Project Execution Perform detailed electrical, instrumentation, and controls engineering in support of control system migration projects. Develop electrical and control design deliverables, including schematics, loop drawings, panel layouts, cable schedules, and construction packages. Support control system cutover activities, commissioning planning, and field execution. Electrical & Controls Integration Assist with electrical power distribution design, grounding, and hazardous area considerations for industrial facilities. Coordinate electrical and instrumentation scope with control system engineers and vendors. Apply established migration strategies and execution plans to assigned work packages. Project Support & Coordination Support project planning, scheduling, and progress tracking for assigned tasks. Respond to RFIs, support construction and commissioning activities, and assist with issue resolution. Participate in site visits and walkdowns as required. Quality, Safety & Compliance Ensure work complies with applicable codes and standards (CEC, Alberta Standata, CSA, ISA). Follow internal quality procedures and contribute to design reviews. Maintain clear and accurate design documentation and revision records. Development & Growth Work closely with senior engineers to build technical judgment in brownfield and live-system environments. Contribute to continuous improvement of standards, templates, and best practices. Qualifications & Experience Required: Bachelor''s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology. Registered or eligible for registration with APEGA (E.I.T. or P.Eng.) or ASET (T.T. or C.E.T.). 48 years of relevant industrial EI&C experience. Exposure to control systems (PLC, SCADA, DCS) in industrial facilities. Strong understanding of electrical and instrumentation fundamentals. Ability to work effectively in a team environment and take technical direction. Clear written and verbal communication skills. Willingness to travel occasionally for site work and commissioning support. Preferred: Experience supporting control system migration or upgrade projects. Familiarity with industrial control system hardware and vendors (e.g., Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider). Experience with AutoCAD or similar drafting tools. EPCM project experience.
