Job Opportunity: Job Title: Draftsperson Reports to: Director, Airport Planning & Infrastructure Type: Term, Full Time (6-months, Extension TBD) Closing Date: January 20, 2026 The Opportunity Reporting to the Director, Airport Planning & Infrastructure and supervised by the Project Manager, the Draftsperson plays a key role in delivering accurate, high-quality technical drawings using Computer-Aided Drafting (CAD). The position is responsible for developing and maintaining WAA core drawings and providing drafting services in support of internal departments and external stakeholders. Responsibilities include: Provide high-quality technical document supporting services to Winnipeg Airports Authority departments including Computer Aided Drafting (CAD), document storage/retrieval and maintenance of site and building drawing data bases. Prepare clear, concise and technically accurate construction, planning, operational, land use, leasing and land development drawings, and graphics under close supervision of design professionals in accordance with standard drafting office procedures. Provide drafting and design services in support of Engineering and Project Management teams. Develop graphics for manuals, displays and brochures. Maintain and validate information in support of infrastructure, airport site, airport site buildings, new projects, space planning, real estate, land development, etc. Review drawing submissions for technical quality and detail content. Receive, catalogue and file hard and softcopy drawings/documentation, along with other duties as required. Maintain hard and soft-copy drawings and documents within various filing systems. Selection Criteria include: Two- or three-year accredited Engineering Technology Diploma in Civil, Municipal/CAD or Geomatics/CAD Technology program. Member or eligible for membership in CTTAM at Technologist Level. Minimum 3 years experience in a drafting/CAD operating environment. Proficiency in use of AutoCAD 2024, AutoCAD Civil 3D 2024 or later versions. Familiarity with coordinate systems and coordinate transformations. Excellent technology skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite programs, SharePoint, and Adobe Pro. Excellent time management and communication skills, both verbal and written. Self motivated to work independently and within a team in a fast paced and constantly changing environment. Exceptional analytical and organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail, quality, accuracy and neatness. Ability to learn and look for continuous improvement in methods, software and processes Exceptional interpersonal skills and proven problem-solving abilities. Knowledge of total station and GPS survey data processing would be an asset. Experience in drafting production and assembly of drawing sets for planning, detailed design and construction documents is an asset. Geographic Information Systems, AutoTurn and AviPlan experience would be an asset. Experience in engineering design and quality control practices. Knowledge of building architectural, BOMA, civil, electrical, mechanical, and structural systems is also an asset.
