Medicine Hat Public School Division In accordance with Article 12 of the Agreement between the Board of Trustees and Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 829, the following information is posted for the attention of custodial staff. Job Posting: Custodian (Evening Shift Part-Time, 6Hours/Day) Location: Dr. Ken Sauer Fine Arts School, Medicine Hat, Alberta Schedule: Monday to Friday, 3:30 PM 9:30 PM Hours per Week: 30 Employment Type: Part-Time, Unionized (CUPE) Application Deadline: Friday, January 16, 2026 by 12:00PM Start Date: ASAP About the Role: We are seeking a dedicated and dependable Custodian to join our team and help maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming school environment. As a custodian, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational mission of our school by ensuring our facilities are clean, secure, and well-maintained. Key Responsibilities: Perform daily cleaning and sanitizing of classrooms, restrooms, offices, and common areas Maintain cleaning equipment and restock supplies Ensure building security and assist with facility safety Report maintenance issues and safety concerns Support event setup and takedown, and assist with furniture moves Perform seasonal tasks such as snow shoveling and outdoor maintenance Conduct minor maintenance on building systems and furniture repairs Collaborate with staff and project a positive image of the school What We''re Looking For: High school diploma or equivalent Minimum 6 months of custodial or building maintenance experience preferred Valid WHMIS certification Working knowledge of cleaning procedures, tools, and safety regulations Ability to operate custodial equipment (e.g., auto scrubbers, vacuums, floor burnishers) Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Outlook) Strong organizational, communication, and people skills A demonstrated ability to work efficiently and effectively Physically capable of lifting, bending, climbing, and standing for extended periods The successful applicant will be required to provide a police information check with vulnerable sector as well as complete job specific pre-employment testing as a condition of the job offer.
