The purpose of this position is to maintain the interior of Housing Services buildings to ensure a safe, clean, and sanitary environment for occupants. The position is responsible for managing cleaning schedules, cleaning equipment & supplies, and performing cleaning services for a diverse portfolio of residential buildings. Duties will include but are not limited to: Daily cleaning of common area including cleaning/disinfecting of high touch surfaces: doorknobs and handles, light switches, counters, commons room kitchens, washrooms, etc; Identify hazards with day-to-day activities and ensure PPE and proper procedures followed; Cleaning and disinfecting of laundry rooms, each visit when applicable; Cleans up garbage on property, and general outdoor clean up to ensure clear of debris and/or hazardous materials; Organize a cleaning schedule that accounts for building needs such as equipment and or supplies required, timeline to complete, travel distances, specific tenant needs, and hazards; Perform cleaning and disinfecting tasks in building common areas, including but not limited to, floors, baseboards, millwork, washrooms, kitchens, elevators, stairs, and appliances; Complete garbage sorting, removal, and disposal as required; Monitor cleaning supply inventories daily at the maintenance shop and buildings serviced; Ensure all cleaning supplies are organized and properly stored at each location, which includes chemicals and larger items such as carts, wax strippers, vacuums, etc; Ensure all cleaning equipment is operational, cleaned, and or maintained daily so it is ready for next use; When approached by tenants, engage in conversation in a respectful and positive manner; Respond to questions and provide accurate information where possible. Refer questions to Supervisor when answer is unknown; Report any concerns with tenant behaviour, physical and mental health, and or concerns with building unit condition to Supervisor; and Maintain assigned vehicles with fuel, cleanliness, and arrange for general maintenance. Keep track of kilometers travelled in travel log. Minimum Qualifications: Grade 10 education; Experience with cleaning and/or maintenance; Ability to perform sustained physical activity; Criminal records check; Must hold a valid driver''s license; Knowledge of cleaning supplies and equipment; Self-motivated and ability to work with minimal supervision; Good previous work attendance record; and WHMIS training Other Qualifications: Experience cleaning multi-unit residential and or commercial buildings would be considered an asset; Current first-aid/CPR certificate would be considered an asset; Non-violent crisis intervention training would be considered an asset; Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety regulations would be considered an asset; and Experience using wax stripper and floor polishing equipment would be considered an asset.
