Job Description

Title: R&D SENIOR CHEMIST - ANALYTICAL DEVELOPMENT Reports to: Manager Analytical Development The R&D Senior Chemist - Analytical Development assists and supports the development of new pharmaceutical dosage forms in addition to improving existing products and procedures. Responsible and accountable for independently conducting chemical and physical laboratory tests on raw materials and R&D samples: in-process, finished product, stability, Preformulation, etc., in addition to performing all the chemist job responsibilities. The AD senior chemist also works along with the Associate Scientists and Scientists designing, planning, supporting and executing all aspects of assigned projects through scientific rationale. Key job responsibilities and duties: Performs activities in the Analytical Development area to support the development of new products and analytical methodologies in accordance with departmental SOPs and ICH guidelines. Initiates and monitors stability programs for all new dosage forms under the guidance of scientists to ensure compliance with ICH guidelines. Monitors, maintains, and calibrates analytical equipment. Ensures that all analytical activities comply with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP). Verifies the availability of chemicals, reagents, apparatus, HPLC columns, solvents, and other materials required to perform tasks in the Analytical Development area. Provides support during the transfer of analytical methodologies to the Quality Control or Contract laboratories. Performs peer reviews of notebooks and data generated by other personnel in the Analytical Development laboratory. Provides analytical and problem-solving feedback based on scientific knowledge, creativity, and innovative thinking. Supports internal projects and external Contract Manufacturing Organization (CMO) projects in alignment with Biolab''s objectives and initiatives. Ensures all analytical activities comply with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and company policies. Education and experience requirements: Canadian equivalent of a Master of Science (M.Sc.) or Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree, preferably in Pharmacy, Chemistry, or Pharmaceutical Chemistry. Over two years of relevant, hands-on pharmaceutical experience in product development. Proven knowledge and experience in analytical chemistry, with demonstrated proficiency in operating instruments such as HPLC, UV/Vis, GC, and dissolution apparatus. Solid understanding of Design of Experiments (DOE), risk-based assessment tools, Quality by Design (QbD) principles, method validation, equipment troubleshooting, and technical transfer processes. Experience with Chromeleon software is considered an asset. Strong ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment. Highly motivated, with strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects and effectively prioritize tasks. Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
