The Applications Analyst is responsible for the development, maintenance, and monitoring of core and digital banking applications, including configuration and support to Butterfield applications and solutions. Your responsibilities will include: Responding to and researching customer issues where required. Examining and analysing suspicious transactions or activity on customer accounts when alerted by various fraud detection tools, taking required action when fraud is suspected. Contacting customers to establish validity of transactions by asking relevant and effective questions. Initiating inter-bank fund recall requests and pre-compliance/compliance requests. Reviewing security alerts and bulletins issued by ICS, MasterCard and Visa. Keeping abreast of any newly identified fraud patterns and Acquirer rules and regulations, escalating new patterns to senior stakeholders for further research when necessary. Reviewing and investigating irregular activities highlighted by the security and fraud monitoring software and suspicious activity reported by end users. Logging incidents in the incident management and intrusion detection and response software for compliance teams. Improving operational processes and supporting critical business strategies by development, implementation, and maintenance of applications systems/services. Designing, building, testing, and deploying support software applications and features. Carrying software products through the software development life cycle (SDLC). Working with business analysts to define software requirements. Participating in on-call rotations to help mitigate any potential production issues. Joining the Bank''s ''Cyber Champions'' network to educate team members on wider fraud trends. Undertaking other duties as necessary to help facilitate the fraud operations area . Your qualifications and skills include: Proficiency in at least one programming language, such as SQL. Proficiency in at least one scripting language, such as Python, .Net or JavaScript. Working knowledge of object-oriented programming, data structures, algorithms, and computer science fundamentals. Managing code documentation and version control, including Git. Strong problem-solving and communication skills. Good knowledge of the Linux operating system. Ability to write clean, concise, and efficient code. Familiarity with how to troubleshoot and debug software. Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, Oracle) would be an added advantage. Desired candidate experience: Bachelor''s degree in computer science, software engineering, or related field. 0-2 years of experience in a similar role, ideally in an agile environment work setting. Knowledge of banking concepts and banking systems. Relevant experience with Oracle Banking products. Strong technical and systems investigative skills, with the ability to communicate with vendors.
