Job Summary Alberta Truss is seeking a motivated Junior Roof Truss & Engineered Wood Products (EWP) Designer to join our Edmonton team. This entry-level to early-career role is ideal for someone looking to develop technical expertise in residential truss and EWP design while working closely with experienced designers and engineers in a collaborative environment. Key Responsibilities Assist in the design of roof truss and EWP systems in accordance with CSA standards and Alberta building codes Prepare truss layouts, preliminary design drawings, and material take-offs under supervision Review architectural drawings to identify basic design requirements and potential conflicts Support senior designers in resolving design challenges and revising layouts Coordinate with production and project teams to ensure accurate and buildable designs Respond to basic technical inquiries from builders, contractors, and internal staff Manage assigned projects while meeting deadlines and maintaining quality standards Participate in ongoing training to improve design skills and software proficiency Qualifications 03 years of experience in roof truss or EWP design (or relevant education with strong interest in truss design) Basic to intermediate experience with MiTek design software (training provided as needed) Working knowledge of Canadian building codes and CSA requirements, or willingness to learn Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn from feedback Good organizational, communication, and time-management skills Preferred Qualifications Engineering Technology diploma or construction-related education Exposure to residential wood-frame construction Familiarity with LVL, I-joists, floor systems, or prefabricated wood components Interest in long-term career development in truss and structural design What We Offer Competitive junior-level compensation with growth potential Comprehensive benefits package Stable, full-time employment with clear career progression Supportive team environment with mentorship from senior designers Hands-on training and development in truss and EWP design best practices Job Types: Full-time, Permanent Expected hours: 40 per week Benefits: Casual dress Dental care Extended health care On-site parking RRSP match Ability to commute/relocate: Edmonton, AB T6P 1X3: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred) Language: English (preferred) Location: Edmonton, AB T6P 1X3 (preferred) Work Location: In person
