PCP or Licensed Practical Nurse Rapid Response Team (RRT) Job Type: Full-time Pay: $30.00 per hour Schedule: Full Time, 12 hours shifts, 4 on 4 off Reports to: Rapid Response Supervisor Safe Harbour provides a low-barrier, housing-driven and recovery-focused shelter that serves some of Red Deer''s most vulnerable people. Key Role: The RRT is made up of PCPs and Licensed Practical Nurses and works in collaboration with our shelter and medical staff in responding to the medical needs of Guests. The RRT supports Guests experiencing acute withdrawal symptoms, while providing temporary monitored shelter and supports to individuals who are no longer in an acute withdrawal phase and are working towards stabilization and other recovery-oriented goals. The PCP''s and Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is an integral part of Safe Harbour''s shelter services and broader collective range of client-centered services. You will play a critical role in providing emergency medical care to individuals within the shelter and surrounding area with a focus on preventing and reversing incidents of opioid poisoning. Key Responsibilities: Respond to suspected incidents of opioid poisoning within the shelter and the immediate surrounding area. Assess emergency scenes and patients to determine patient needs and interventions. Prioritizes needs for patient in the delivery of clinical care. Administer naloxone, basic life support (BLS) airway adjuncts, and semi-automated defibrillation as needed. Ensure that emergency response kits are properly stocked and equipped. Assess patients for need for additional monitoring within the designated shelter area and provide same. Establishes engagement and develops rapport with clients. Work alongside the client, supporting client-centered recovery orientated goals through mentorship and advocacy. Providing and/or facilitating spiritual and cultural support, emotional, physical, and mental wellness, and education to those seeking health care services. Discusses evidence-based interventions that reduce morbidity and mortality related to substance use. Strengthening team dynamics by advocating for the client, actively facilitating team collaboration, and engaging with community partners to enhance client health outcomes. Completes data collection according to established protocol. Record and report client critical incidents. Maintains a clean working environment. Works with to offer education on opioid poisoning prevention. Works with regulated health professionals to ensure clients'' safety by making observations and seeking emergency assistance as required, according to established protocols. Required: Non-restricted registration in good standing with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA) OR Non-restricted registration in good standing with the Alberta College of Paramedics (ACOP) as a PCP Completed education from an approved educational program. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP) Current Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check Working Environment: The working environment is demanding and includes exposure to heat, cold, rain, snow, and wind, with exposure to hazardous and graphic scenes and direct exposure to bodily fluids. Physical Demands: The working conditions for an LPN/PCP are physically demanding. You must be able to endure frequent lifting and carrying of up to 105lbs, while transporting and transferring patients, supplies, and equipment. You must be able to endure frequent, simultaneous kneeling and trunk flexion for extended periods. Additionally, you must stand and sit for extended periods, bend, twist, side-carry up to 20lbs in each hand and assume awkward positions.
