Job Description

Position Summary The Casual Driver / Case Aide supports the day-to-day operations of Makoose C. Gamik by providing safe transportation services and practical assistance to residents, staff, and program activities. This role plays an important part in supporting culturally grounded, trauma-informed care by helping ensure residents can attend appointments, community outings, cultural activities, and essential services in a safe and respectful manner. Key Responsibilities Transportation & Driver Duties Safely transport residents to and from appointments, community programs, cultural activities, and other approved outings Ensure agency vehicles are operated in accordance with safety policies, licensing requirements, and road regulations Conduct basic vehicle checks (fuel, cleanliness, safety) and report any maintenance concerns promptly Maintain accurate driving logs and required documentation Case Aide Support Provide practical support to residents as directed by Case Workers or Supervisors Assist with daily activities, appointments, and program participation Support staff during intakes, transitions, and community-based activities when required Observe and report any concerns related to resident safety, wellbeing, or behaviour to the appropriate staff Program & Cultural Support Support Indigenous-led and culturally grounded programming in a respectful and trauma-informed manner Uphold confidentiality, professionalism, and respectful communication at all times Work collaboratively with staff, Elders, and community partners Qualifications & Requirements Valid Class 5 driver''s license with a clean driver''s abstract Experience working with Indigenous communities, social services, or vulnerable populations is an asset Understanding of trauma-informed, culturally safe, and client-centered approaches Ability to work flexible, on-call hours, including evenings and weekends Strong communication, reliability, and interpersonal skills Additional Requirements Current Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain) Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality Core Values Respect for Indigenous culture, teachings, and community values Commitment to safety, dignity, and wellbeing of residents Team-oriented, dependable, and compassionate approach Job Type: Casual Pay: $20.00 per hour Benefits: Mileage reimbursement Work Location: In person
