Role Overview The Weed Inspector enforces The Weed Control Act within the RM, ensuring compliance and managing invasive plant species. This role involves inspecting properties, issuing compliance orders or agreements, and implementing control measures to prevent and eradicate prohibited, noxious, and nuisance weeds. The position requires a valid Saskatchewan Agriculture Pesticide Applicator License and a commitment to safety and environmental stewardship. Key Responsibilities Identify and manage nuisance, noxious, and prohibited weeds while maintaining legislatively required tracking records for RM documentation. Monitor and treat infested areas to prevent further spread of weeds. Input data into the invasive species management platform as directed by the Ministry of Agriculture; computer/tablet proficiency required. Collaborate with landowners and businesses to control or eradicate weeds, issuing Agreements or Orders as necessary. Enforce The Weed Control Act, the Municipal Weed Management Program, and related policies. Recommend actions to ensure landowner compliance and report findings to Administration and Council. Develop projected weed control plans covering 1-, 3-, and 5-year strategies. Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to Occupational Health and Safety standards and best practices. Education & Qualifications Grade 12 diploma required; post-secondary education or agricultural background preferred. Valid Class 5 Saskatchewan Driver''s License with clean abstract. Valid Saskatchewan Agricultural Pesticide Applicator License. Strong communication skills for working with diverse stakeholders. Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and think critically. Team-oriented with effective collaboration skills. Physically capable of manual labor, lifting, riding ATVs on rough terrain, and working in various weather conditions. Reliable vehicle available for work purposes. Compensation Competitive compensation will be determined by qualifications and agreed upon during the contract negotiation process.
