About Us Select Helicopter Services Ltd. is a well-established Canadian Approved Maintenance Organization (AMO) specializing in the repair and overhaul of helicopter hydraulic flight control systems and cargo hooks. We are a small, professional team that takes pride in the integrity and quality of our work and the relationships we build with our customers and each other. Position Summary We are seeking a Shop Assistant to support our maintenance and overhaul operations. This role is well suited to candidates new to aviation who have a strong mechanical aptitude and want to learn a specialized trade in a regulated environment. We provide hands-on, on-the-job training and develop employees according to our procedures, quality standards, and safety culture. Key Responsibilities Assist technicians and supervisors with daily shop and maintenance activities Use and maintain basic hand tools (wrenches, ratchets, sockets, hammers, screwdrivers, etc.) Perform basic machining and honing of parts as required, following established procedures (including repetitive tasks essential to component quality) Learn to read and follow schematics, work instructions, and technical procedures Prepare, clean, and organize parts, components, and work areas Support general shop operations, including housekeeping and material handling Perform all work with integrity, attention to detail, and accountability to established procedures What We''re Looking For Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with hand tools Willingness to learn, take direction, and take pride in doing the job right Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship Reliability, punctuality, and a good work ethic Ability to work respectfully and reliably as part of a small, close-knit team Assets (Not Required) Experience in automotive, mechanical, manufacturing, or trades environments Exposure to regulated or quality-driven industries Technical or mechanical education or training Training & Development Structured, hands-on training provided on the job Opportunity to develop high standards in helicopter component maintenance and workmanship Supportive environment focused on learning, quality, and continuous improvement Work Schedule Monday to Friday 8-hour day shifts (7:30 am - 4pm) Compensation & Benefits Enjoy competitive wages aligned with industry standards, dental care, extended health care, RRSP match after 1 year, paid time off, employee assistance program (EAP), and stable, long-term employment in a specialized aviation environment.
