The successful candidate will oversee day-to-day operations, provide hands-on nursing care, and ensure a safe, comfortable, and dignified living environment for our residents in a small, home-like setting.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide direct nursing care including assessments, medication administration, treatments, and documentation in accordance with CARNA/CLPNA standards and Alberta legislation.Lead and supervise health care aides and other support staff, including scheduling, delegation of tasks, performance feedback, and training.Coordinate resident care plans in collaboration with physicians, families, and other healthcare providers, ensuring person-centered, individualized care.Oversee the overall household operations (cleanliness, safety checks, supplies, and food service) to maintain a warm, home-style environment consistent with Ardia Care Homes'' standards.Ensure compliance with continuing care standards, infection prevention and control practices, and all relevant Alberta Health and Safety regulations.Communicate regularly and professionally with residents'' families, addressing questions, concerns, and updates on residents'' condition and care.Participate in admissions, assessments, and orientation of new residents; maintain accurate and complete resident records.Respond to emergencies, perform first aid/CPR as needed, and follow appropriate reporting and incident management procedures.Required QualificationsCurrent and unrestricted registration and licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA).Minimum 2 years of recent LPN experience in supportive living, long-term care, or a similar seniors'' care environment in Alberta or Canada.Previous leadership or supervisory experience (charge nurse, team lead, or house manager role) strongly preferred.Current CPR/BLS certification and up-to-date immunizations as required for working in continuing care settings in Alberta.Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search.Strong clinical assessment skills, excellent problem-solving abilities, and sound judgment in managing resident health concerns.Demonstrated ability to manage a household environment: coordinating staffing, supplies, meals, and general home operations.Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a compassionate, resident- and family-focused approach.Proficiency with electronic charting and basic computer skills.Preferred AssetsExperience in small (410 bed) residential care homes or group home settings.Training or experience in dementia care, mental health, or responsive behaviours.Knowledge of Alberta continuing care standards and accreditation processes.Work Environment and ScheduleSmall, home-based care environment with a low resident-to-staff ratio focused on individualized attention.Combination of day, evening, and occasional weekend shifts; on-call responsibilities for urgent issues may be required.Some light housekeeping and hands-on support with ADLs (bathing, dressing, toileting, mobility) as part of the integrated care model.Compensation and BenefitsCompetitive hourly wage commensurate with experience and qualifications.Opportunities for leadership development and growth within a locally owned care organization.Supportive team culture that values respect, dignity, and independence for residents.
