OverviewRegistered Practical Nurse (RPN) - Part Time and Casual role at Responsive Group Inc. We are seeking a candidate who shares our values and has a passion to make a difference, with strong teamwork and a warm, person-centered approach to care.ResponsibilitiesDevelopment and modification of the plans of care in response to residents individualized health care needs and changes in health care statusLiaises with other health care personnel, agencies and familiesMaintains good relationships with Medical/Support/Home staff, residents, families and the general publicSupervises all activities on the unit, takes charge as requiredMonitors performance and completes performance evaluations for PSWs and RPNsDirects, assigns and evaluates the work of the PSWsMay be in charge of Home as required; utilizes leadership skills to identify problems and problem-solve on the unitMonitors that care is delivered in accordance with the resident Bill of RightsUnderstands quality indicators used by the Home and participates in their improvementOrders and ensures nursing supplies and equipment are properly usedActs on residents and families concerns in accordance with Home policiesConducts unit rounds at the beginning and end of shiftProcesses physician orders and administers medications and treatments in compliance with Pharmacy provider policies, Home policies and College of Nurses standards; documents and reports errorsMaintains accurate and complete nursing records in compliance with legislative requirements and Home policiesAssesses changes in health status and reports to SDM/POA and interdisciplinary teamCompletes health care assessments (RAI-MDS and other assessments), develops and updates plans of care in collaboration with residents/SDM and the teamMaintains awareness of Ministry of Long-Term Care mandatory reporting and critical incidents and follows Home policiesOther duties as assigned per the Job Task InventoryQualificationsCurrent Certificate of Competence with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse or a Registered Nurse registered with a regulatory authority in a Canadian jurisdiction, with equivalent of certificate of registration authorizing independent practice in Ontario as of right exemption Bill 60Basic CPRExperience in a long-term care setting is an assetAbility to work with and relate to interdisciplinary team membersWell-developed written and oral communication skillsKnowledge of RAI-MDS AIS certified, or commitment to complete within one year of hireCommitment to person-centered care and promoting residents rightsMust provide a current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check or be willing to obtain oneTB testing results or chest X-ray as per Public Health requirementsTwo supervisory referencesProvide proof of all required vaccines.
