If that sounds like a challenge you want to help tackle, we want you to join our team!The OpportunityReporting to the Manager, Hire and Buy Local, External Relations Canada this person is responsible for the successful implementation of a Hire and Buy Local framework for projects in British Columbia designed to ensure that local communities and local Indigenous Nations benefit from TC Energys projects and operations.We believe that those who are most impacted should benefit most. This role will be responsible for ensuring that BC projects and operations prioritize the hiring of local workers and the buying (contracting/procurement) of local goods and services. In this role you will work closely with the external relations team, supply chain, project management teams, prime contractors, subcontractors and Indigenous Nations to collaboratively achieve the outcomes of Hire and Buy Local.The success of the Hire and Buy Local program requires support from Business Units, Supply Chain and corporate support functions and the right candidate will be able to get these teams aligning and working towards common goals The individual must be a strategic thinker and able to develop and execute on plans and not afraid to roll up their sleeves and complete tasks themselves.What Youll DoYou will provide leadership to a team of people who do not report to you, aligning towards a common plan and set of objectives. Doing this will require you to dive deep on the details, while maintaining a broad perspective and understanding of desired outcomes (more local hiring and buying). You will need to work with a many internal and external stakeholders and Indigenous Nations to ensure consistent and effective implementation of the Hire and Buy Local program and plans from contractors as well as managing issues effectively. Doing so successfully will require you to understand and internally promote the benefits of this approach through strategic influencing.You will have a natural curiosity about data that ensures you are able to draw insights and drive continuous improvement.You will design think creatively about how results are communicated internally and externally. You will find ways to simplify business process and remove obstacles.Develop and execute the implementation plan for Hire and Buy LocalEnsure that Hire and Buy Local is implemented across BC projects and operationsEnsure effective public and internal reporting and trackingLead information sessions across the projectsSupport engagement leads in the field and lead external engagement on Hire and Buy Local such as early discussions on opportunities, debriefs and issues managementEvaluate Hire and Buy Local Plans submitted by contractors and vendors to ensure Hire and Buy Local objectives are being achievedWork with business partners to develop and implement the appropriate data governance and tools to drive continuous improvementDraft, revise, and finalize critical documentationParticipate in regular meetings with TC Energy project management, construction management, supply chain, suppliers, Indigenous Nations and local communities, and contractorsMonitor and support TC Energy contractors and vendor performance and work collaboratively with contractors to remedy non-performanceProvide feedback to Indigenous Nations and affiliated businesses through all phases of the projectsMinimum QualificationsPost-Secondary Degree or Diploma in a relevant disciplineMinimum of 10 years of industry experience (combination of industry experience and relevant discipline)Ideally this is related to Indigenous relations in pipeline or other large-scale industry/projectsExperience developing strategic relationships and partnershipsPreferred QualificationsPrevious experience working in the energy sector and/or midstream energy industryProject execution experience, including supply chain, contractor engagement experienceExcellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong respectful relationships with a variety of groups, from the grassroots to senior levels, both internally and externallyExperience in using CRM computer softwareSuperior communication skills, both verbally and in writing, with the ability to effectively present to a variety of audiencesHigh energy, positive attitude, and ability to work in a dynamic and diverse team environmentFlexible and able to travel as requiredStrong business acumen within the energy industryAbility to be a team player and work independently to achieve project-driven deliverables in a continuously evolving contextExcellent problem-solving abilities and the ability to find creative solutions to complex problemsProven facilitation and influencing abilitiesTo remain competitive, support our high-performance culture and allow for more flexibility in the way we work, we offer a hybrid work model and flexible dress code for our eligible office-based workforce in Canada, the U.S. and Mexico.About Our BusinessTC Energy is a leading energy infrastructure company in North America.
