We are seeking a motivated Registered Nurse with a dedication for delivering compassionate patient care to join our team in the Obstetrics department at Kitimat General Hospital and Health Centre.Under the direction of the Unit Manager of the Nurse in Charge of the Acute Care Unit, is responsible for the total nursing care rendered to the patients in her/his charge, and participation in the general activities of the Acute Care Unit. Work areas include Medical Surgical, Pediatrics, Maternity, Special Care, Palliative Care and Emergency Outpatients.There are 2 training positions available for 2025/2026Northern Health provides placement support and funding for tuition, textbooks, and travel expenses for clinical placements, as requiredLearners should expect to make a 4-6 month commitment for this education, which includes online and in-person learningAdditional study time, outside of scheduled hours, will be required to successfully complete the programFlexibility for practicums is necessaryApplicants must successfully complete the education program prior to working in the departmentUpon successful completion of the education program, Northern Health requires an eighteen (18) month return of service in a regular position in the area of nursing applicable to the education program.Qualified applicants will be considered first for specialty positions. Kitimat was built in the 1950s and is one of BCs youngest coastal communities. Main industries include an aluminum smelter, a pulp and paper mill and a petrochemical manufacturer. The population of Kitimat is approximately 8,236. The community has three elementary schools, two secondary schools, and one post-secondary school.
