Overall Job Summary This position is responsible for proficiency in all areas of a retail operation. The position serves as the second in charge of operations to the Store Manager. Duties include performing operational activities throughout the store and assisting the Store Manager in providing appropriate direction to the Operations Team Members. This role is process driven, promoting a safe and productive work environment for all Team Members, customers, and vendors, and training Operations Team Members on policies and procedures. Responsibilities include freight, recovery, feed management, backroom standards, and oversight of receiver duties. Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%) Maintain regular and predictable attendance. Work assigned schedules based on business needs. Uphold and promote a safe and productive work environment by following and enforcing policies and procedures. Provide customer service: Greet the customer Uncover the customer's needs Recommend products Ask for the sale Oversee the receiver role, including hiring, training, development, coaching, and ensuring receiving standards are met. Proficient in all receiver functions: vendor POS, backroom standards, outside standards, and inventory control. Lead and execute all operations processes and SOPs: stocking, truck unloading, store recovery, feed management, merchandise activities. Manage store perpetual accuracy, correct inventory discrepancies, oversee inventory adjustments, and process POs timely. Support the store manager with overall operations: driving sales and profit, planning, prioritization, delegating daily tasks. Lead freight movement; support merchandising initiatives, feed management, and inventory control. Train operations team members on policies and procedures. Adhere to loss prevention standards and respond to alarm calls. Adhere to inside and outside security standards and manage shrink. Participate in store audits and operate within company policies. Supervise cash handling procedures. Transport and make deposits to the bank. Operate forklift and baler. Operate cash register/computer. Assist customers with loading purchases. Complete all documentation associated with duties. Obtain required licenses or certifications. May be required to perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Experience: Previous retail leadership experience is required. Prior store operations experience and supervisory experience is strongly preferred. Farming, ranching, pet/equine, or welding knowledge is preferred. Must be 18 years of age or older and possess a valid drivers license. Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required. Bachelors degree in Business Administration or related field is preferred. Regardless of education level, you must read, write, and count accurately. Preferred Knowledge, Skills Or Abilities Ability to perform and execute principle responsibilities of team members. Strong interpersonal skills; able to resolve issues ethically with minimal conflict. Excels in a fast paced work environment. Working Conditions Indoor floors and outdoor lots generally are hard surfaces; lighting and temperature are adequate. Work shifts vary, generally no less than 4 hours and may exceed 8 hours. Environment is moderate noise indoors. Promote a safe and productive work environment for team members and customers; adhere to company safety training and guidelines. Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions. Physical Requirements Non-sedentary position. Need physical and mental stamina to move throughout store and outdoor areas quickly and safely. Ability to move and transfer merchandise up to 50 pounds. Ability to push and pull merchandise up to 2,000 pounds with proper equipment. Can occasionally lift or reach overhead. Can frequently stand, kneel, twist, crouch, squat, bend, stoop, and climb ladders. Can move throughout store for an entire shift. Can safely access all areas of store (selling floor, side lot, stock area, register area). Can operate and use all equipment (dolly, handtruck, forklift, baler, computer, cash register). Forklift and baler not required under 18. Can read, write, and count accurately for documentation. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Can process information through POS system. Can complete required training and certification to dispense propane (if applicable). Not applicable under 18. Can travel as required in support of district needs. Can drive or operate a vehicle for business needs. Can complete all required training and certifications.
