Lot 1 Ottawa, ON K1G 3N4 and various locations throughout Ottawa where we offer our services.Type of Employment: Full-time - PermanentEstimated Start Date: As soon as possibleJob description:Prepare invoices for customers upon completion of serviceDeliver trucks to the dealership for maintenance checksPlan or adjust routes based on changing conditions using GPS or other navigation tools to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissionsAddress customers complaints or concernsAssist and coach colleagues on new methods or work techniques; provide support when a second truck is requiredMaintain driving expertise and professionalism in customer serviceOperate light and medium-duty tow trucks or special-purpose vehiclesLoad and unload vehicles safely onto the tow truckOperate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport vehiclesInspect vehicle condition and check tires, lights, brakes, and other equipmentCollect and process payments for services providedPerform brake adjustments and basic emergency roadside repairsConduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections and oversee all aspects of the vehicles operationPerform preventive maintenance as requiredReceive and relay information to central dispatchRecord cargo details, distance travelled, and fuel consumptionSecure cargo using tarps or other appropriate safety measuresRequirementsEducation: Completion of secondary school is required.Experience: Minimum of 7 months of experience as a truck operator or in a related position. On-the-job training is provided.License: Valid Class G drivers license is required to operate wreckers and flatbeds.Certification:Must be eligible for a Tow Driver Certificate as required by the Ministry of Transportation (MTO).Background Check: A Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC) is required. Convictions or license suspensions may result in disqualification under applicable laws such as the Highway Traffic Act, Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, and Compulsory Automobile Insurance ActTechnical Skills: Willingness to learn Towbook software.Compliance: Must be willing to adapt to new MTO laws, safety standards, and company policies.Documentation Knowledge: Driver logbook, maintenance and repair reports, trip reports, accident or incident reports, inspection reports (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip).Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Attention to details, handling heavy loads, large workload, physically demanding, repetitive tasks and prolonged sitting.Personal Suitability: Efficient interpersonal skills, excellent oral communication, excellent written communication, flexibility, judgement, organized, reliability, team player, hardworking and patience.Weight handling: Up to 50 kgLanguage: English is requiredSalary: $36.00 hourly. 35 to 40 hours per week.Benefits:Gratuities, mileage paid/GAS, uniforms and vehicle provided by the employer.Important Information:Flexibility in schedule is required.
