Job Overview Join our team as an Ocean Freight Manager for the Vancouver station. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing a team of OFR Department Managers, Supervisors & Ocean Freight Specialists, ensuring efficient operational activities, adherence to service promises and regulatory standards. The role focuses on maximizing gross profit and productivity, fostering a customercentric culture, and owning Profit and Loss (PnL) responsibilities for financial performance. Key Responsibilities Own the P&L within the specific area of control. Drive growth in local markets in collaboration with field sales, while ensuring customer satisfaction and retention through regular visits and swift complaint/escalation management. Act as a 3rd or 2nd escalation point depending on local structure for customer complaints & special requests, working with internal teams toward resolution. Ensure service quality and operational excellence by proactively monitoring customer feedback and improving performance; oversee process improvement opportunities to enhance efficiency. Ensure teams adhere to Global standard processes when executing shipments. Build and manage supplier relationships to optimize service delivery and profitability. Oversee and develop a highperforming team, enabling and equipping them to resolve issues effectively, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement. Lead the department, supervisors, and specialists in line with Ocean Freight Strategic objectives. Ensure teams comply with regulatory procedures related to commodities and shipment locations. Achieve productivity targets and provide ocean freight services for internal and external customers. Drive GP maximization with the team through tight financial control. Develop and maintain business relationships with existing clients and identify upsell opportunities, conducting regular visits and achieving desired customer retention. Area of OFR Product Identify performance issues of suppliers and propose solutions to improve performance. Resolve customer issues and incidents. Own the Ocean freight PnL for the station. Skills / Requirements Experience in routing, shipping, carrier management, thirdparty logistics, ports, ground transportation, FCL, LCL, cold chain, bill of lading, tracking, regulations, import/export, customs regulations, telecommunications, budgets, Microsoft Excel, technology trends, DHL business knowledge, business processes, business strategy, influencing, feedback, presentation & storytelling, facilitation, negotiation, people management, and resourcing. Experience level 6 years or more. Education Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience/qualification.
