In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable movement of goods across our network, reporting directly to the District Manager. As a key member of our operations team, you will take on a diverse range of responsibilities that span both office-based planning and on-site oversight at our facilities, offering a unique blend of strategic coordination and hands-on operational leadership.This position can be based in Edmonton or Airdrie, Alberta.**Key Accountabilities*** Prioritize Health and Safety by adhering to all organizational safety policies, procedures, and best practices, and consistently maintaining safe work behaviors.* Oversee daily transportation operations, including route scheduling, shipment tracking, and ensuring timely delivery of goods.* Ensure full compliance with local, provincial, and federal transportation and safety regulations.* Conduct regular safety audits and implement corrective actions and safety protocols as needed.* Monitor and manage transportation budgets and costs to maximize efficiency and reduce overall expenses.* Supervise, mentor, and support transportation staff, including drivers and logistics team members.* Participate in recruitment, onboarding, and training efforts to build and maintain a skilled and high-performing workforce* Coordinate with customers, vendors, facilities, and suppliers to address transportation needs and resolve shipment-related issues.* Develop and implement transportation policies and procedures aimed at improving operational efficiency, safety, and service quality.**Experience, Qualifications & Education*** Degree in Logistics or Supply Chain Management, or equivalent professional experience.* Dispatch experience is required.* Valid Class 5 drivers license.* Previous truck driving experience is considered a strong asset.**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities*** Strong customer relationship management with both internal and external clients.* A willingness to take direction and work effectively in stressful situations.* Ability to multitask and adapt to new working environments.* Experience in managing multiple job tasks and people.* Proven knowledge of business and management principles, strategic planning and leadership techniques.* Excellent ability to listen, analyze and adapt to ever changing situations and schedule changes to meet the requirements of GFL customers.*We thank you for your interest.
