Salary: CAD$41.42$59.52 per hour Job Summary: Fraser Health provides hospital and community-based health services from Burnaby to Fraser Canyon on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the CoastSalish and Nlakapamux Nations. The Ambulatory Day Care team delivers personcentered care to outpatients requiring minor surgical procedures, diagnostic or interventional endoscopy. You will assess, plan, provide, and evaluate nursing care and give discharge teaching to adults and children. Mission: Better health, best in health care. Responsibilities: Assesses patients and collects information from a variety of sources using observation, communication, data review, and physical assessment. Makes a nursing diagnosis and determines where nursing intervention can improve or resolve the condition. Observes patient acuity for significant changes, intervenes to provide and manage care as necessary, and resolves problems or emergency situations by planning and performing nursing interventions and evaluating outcomes. Assists physicians with therapeutic interventions, including patient positioning and use of procedure-related equipment; assembles, maintains, and is responsible for equipment care. Collaborates with patients and families in developing the care plan, encourages family participation, and establishes a therapeutic relationship on the basis of empathy, trust, respect, and advocacy for privacy and autonomy. Participates in admission and discharge planning, updates the care plan, and collaborates with the interprofessional team and Patient Care Coordinator on issues impacting the plan. Coordinates nursing care, sets priorities, delegates tasks to support staff, and makes referrals to the interprofessional team according to protocols. Works with physicians, LPNs, Patient Care Coordinator, Clinical Nurse Educators, and other health professionals to resolve issues and adjust care plans. Assesses learning needs of patients and families, provides support and education for selfcare, illness prevention, and health maintenance. Plans and discusses referral information with patient and families and initiates referrals to community agencies. Documents assessments, diagnoses, observations, interventions, responses, outcomes, and referrals following Fraser Health procedures. Participates in nursing committees, care conferences, and councils as assigned. Engages in research and quality improvement activities, collecting data and recommending changes to practice. Attends inservices and educational programs, setting learning goals and maintaining current competence. Acts as a preceptor or mentor for new staff and students. Provides feedback to the Manager on patient care programs, policy tools, and equipment. Performs other related duties as required. Education and Experience: Graduation from an approved School of Nursing. Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the BCCNM. Two (2) years recent relevant clinical experience in an ambulatory daycare or similar setting and completion of postgraduate coursework or certification applicable to the area, or an equivalent combination. Skills and Abilities: Clinical proficiency in an ambulatory daycare setting. Initiate and maintain intravenous therapy. Complete initial and ongoing patient assessment and provide nursing care with technical and therapeutic interventions. Communicate effectively with patients, families, public, medical staff, and the interprofessional team. Promote personcentered care with empathy, cultural sensitivity, and advocacy. Integrate and evaluate data from multiple sources for effective problemsolving. Teach patients and families essential health and wellbeing topics. Organize and prioritize work. Collaborate and promote cooperation among the interprofessional team. Support nursing decisions with evidencebased practice. Operate related equipment, including relevant computer applications. Physical ability to perform job duties.
