Registered Veterinary Technician, Radiology Primary Purpose This position is designed to provide technical assistance to clinicians and undergraduate students essential to the provision of diagnostic imaging services for animals presented to or in the care of the Veterinary Medical Centre. Nature of Work The incumbent reports to the Manager Business, Finance and Support and assists in all technical aspects of diagnostic imaging services. The role involves handling large and small animals (equine, bovine, porcine, caprine, ovine, llamas, alpacas, canine, feline, avian, etc.), exposing employees to animal dander, waste, unpredictability, requiring frequent walking, standing, lifting, and restraining. The position works with x-rays/isotopes under radiation safety regulations in a fastpaced environment. Typical Duties Assist licensed veterinarians with radiographic procedures, including radiography, fluoroscopy, and ultrasonography for large and small animal clinics. Perform handfree radiology techniques and safely sedate, monitor, handle, and restrain animals. Maintain records in the PAC system. Supervise and instruct veterinary technology students. Maintain and supply equipment and facility; assist in caring for hospitalized patients during low or high activity periods. Qualifications Education: Graduate of a recognized 2year veterinary technology program; registered or eligible with Saskatchewan Veterinary Medical Association (SVMA) and Association of Veterinary Technologists (SAVT). Experience: Minimum 3 years direct experience in diagnostic imaging modalities in a veterinary hospital or clinical setting with both large and small animals. Skills: Proficient technical skills; effective interpersonal and communication skills; strong organization and timemanagement; ability to work independently and as part of a team; sound computer knowledge; proficiency with Microsoft products; basic sedation protocol knowledge is an asset. Applicants fully qualifying under CUPE 1975 Phase 5 will be prioritized. Nonqualified applicants may be considered for lower classification with training and advancement opportunities. Salary range varies by classification: Phase 4 CAD $23.35$30.61/hr; Phase 3 CAD $21.55$25.13/hr; Phase 5 current salary $28.72$37.60/hr.
