DescriptionThe University of Calgary, Faculty of Nursing is seeking Sessional Nursing Instructors to teach courses in our Graduate Certificate Laddered Pathway to Master of Nursing Program. Instruction of the courses will take place in the Winter 2025, Spring 2025, Summer 2025 semesters.We are seeking applicants with experience in teaching graduate level nursing courses. The courses are delivered online and include synchronous and asynchronous learning opportunities. Flexibility for availability varies and may include a combination of days, evenings, and weekends for teaching, office hours, and answering student e-mails.Sessional Instructors are provided with exceptional orientation, mentorship, and ongoing professional development. The amount of remuneration is calculated according to the Collective Agreement, Schedule B. Please see the Faculty Association's website at further information regarding conditions of employment and remuneration.Teaching Responsibilities:Work effectively with small groups of students in online environmentsParticipate in team meetings related to teaching and faculty governanceApply various teaching strategies to support student learning in an online environmentParticipate in student assessment and evaluationsEncourage and foster an environment of inquiry and valuing of evidence informed practiceQualifications: Candidates must be eligible for registration with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta. A master's degree is required, and a PhD is preferred.Applied Experience: Experience in teaching, mentoring, and supervising graduate studentsEnhanced Abilities: Application of adult teaching/learning principlesTeamwork and leadership skillsEvaluation and promotions of student problem solving and critical thinkingAbility to critique student performance and provide meaningful feedbackPrioritizing and meeting competing demands/requirements of varied settingsComputer skills in word processing, email and internet accessConsideration of applications will begin immediately.
