Executive Office on Early Learning - (12-Month) State Office Teacher, 606433 (2025-04667) Join to apply for the Executive Office role at Hawaii State Department of Education. Responsibilities Provide professional learning support to Hawaii Department of Education schools offering pre-kindergarten classrooms. Lead to improvements in knowledge, skills, practices and dispositions of pre-kindergarten teachers and educational assistants, resulting in high quality learning opportunities for children and families. Develop and provide professional learning experiences in child development and learning, quality interactions, curriculum, instruction, assessment and family engagement. Use evidencebased practices consistent with adult learning principles, structured to promote connections between research, theory and practice. Collaborate with teams to establish goals for the pre-kindergarten professional learning support program; develop implementation plans; evaluate program; coordinate with colleagues; prepare required reports. Engage in professional learning related to early childhood education and adult learning; participate in professional learning communities, action research and work groups or activities/projects with administrators or other early childhood professionals. Drive to and from schools including interisland travel to support schools, teachers and professional development. Qualifications State Approved Teacher's Education Program (SATEP) completion required to qualify for this teacher position. A Master's degree from an accredited college or university with an emphasis in early childhood education or child development is preferred. Minimum 6 years experience as an early childhood teacher; experience working with adult learners. Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to speak to groups, engage in sustained conversations, demonstrate active listening skills, paraphrasing, summarizing key points and take observational notes. Child development and learning principles, developmentally appropriate practice, learning progression, curriculum design, formative assessment processes and data analysis, application of data to practice, family engagement, observation and documentation of childrens play and work. Coaching/mentoring and team building; ability to work in a fastpaced environment and handle multiple tasks. Benefits Compensation: 12month teachers compensated for the applicable Bargaining Unit 05 12month salary schedule for a 12month work year. 21 days of paid sick leave, 14 days paidvacation and state/federal holidays during the school year.
