Ship Maintenance Lead Location: Halifax John Savage, Canada Position Summary The Ship Maintenance Lead oversees the planning, execution and closeout activities for each vessel work period assigned. Responsible for the integrated schedule and worksite during structured work periods, the Ship Maintenance Lead as the Work Pack Manager manages and coordinates internal and external teams through all phases of the work period. The Ship Maintenance Lead directs and monitors all activities to completion while preparing and delivering regular work period reports relating to schedule progress, cost and risks. The Ship Maintenance Lead ensures all work executed in the Work Period follows all worksite safety plans and procedures and reports to the Ship Maintenance Team Lead. Key Areas of Responsibility Execute, monitor and control each project until its completion. Act as the primary point of contact for all stakeholders with respect to the maintenance execution function on the ships. Supervise (planning, organizing, leading and controlling) the Thales personnel and subcontractors to achieve agreed outcomes within their delegated authorities and responsibilities. Coordinate and conduct all required activities prior to commencement of maintenance execution, including subcontractor kickoff meetings, approval of purchase requisitions, and issue of purchase orders. Oversee all maintenance execution activities for designated maintenance periods to ensure material readiness objectives are being achieved. Provide wholeship project management support to the Coastal Ship Maintenance Team Lead as required to meet availability standards and full mission capability under the awarded ISS contract(s). Manage the conduct of maintenance and/or adhoc tasking during designated maintenance work periods within agreed time frames. Foster teamwork and unity among department members to enable effective collaboration. Maintain compliance with all relevant HS&E legislative requirements, policies, procedures and framework; promote Thales Health, Safety and Environmental programs through professional leadership and effective communication. Minimum Requirements Minimum of 4years of demonstrated technical experience in the last 10years, managing projects and teams preferably in the ship/dockyard and naval environments. Possess a minimum 3year technical program diploma from a recognized technical institute or certification as a technologist by a recognized provincial, state or federal licensing body, or a QL6B level or RQPO1 certification in military technical training. Experience supervising teams undertaking maintenance activities. Strong computer literacy, with proven experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience interfacing between internal and external stakeholders within a project. Strong organizational skills and ability to balance multiple priorities. Physical Demands Predominantly office work but will be required to travel to and work in dockyards and onboard naval ships occasionally. May be required to undertake inspections on naval ships that involve bending, twisting and working aloft. Special Position Requirements Office or onboard naval ships (in harbor or at sea) and must meet all federal government requirements to access Canadian government facilities, including naval dockyards. Required to access government facilities and assets, including naval vessels. Schedule: 40hours per week. Travel: Occasional domestic or international travel may be required in support of the ships.
