Job Description The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WHRA) is accepting applications for Regional Medical Specialty Lead (RMSL), Community Family Medicine and Primary Care. The RMSL reports to the Regional Medical Lead, Medical Services & Chief Medical Officer (Regional CMO) of the WHRA and is appointed in consultation with the Shared Health Provincial Medical Specialty Lead, Family Medicine (PMSL). The RMSL assists the Regional CMO in carrying out responsibilities as set out in the Provincial Medical Staff ByLaws. The RMSL is responsible for ensuring models and standards of care are communicated to all medical staff in the Community Family Medicine and Primary Care service area across the region, and monitoring adherence. The role works closely with site administration, site medical leadership and the Medical Staff to create a harmonious, patientfocused healthcare system for community health services. The RMSL also works closely with the Regional CMO and medical specialists to provide leadership advice on regional Community Family Medicine and Primary Care related strategies, staffing policies and standards of care. The RMSL is recognized as a member of the regional leadership team and will be actively involved in the development of regional planning including strategies, financial management, etc. This physician leadership position supports the mandate and vision of building primary care and community services to support overall system improvements and to integrate and coordinate services with both acute care facilities and private practice feeforservice physicians. Qualifications A medical practitioner, qualified to practice Family Medicine in the Province of Manitoba and in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba. A member of the active Medical Staff of the RHA. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated leadership and management skills inclusive of coaching/mentoring and performance management in a health services delivery organization, and willingness to participate in ongoing training related to enhancing leadership/management skills. Demonstrated ability to work respectfully and harmoniously with all members of the healthcare team and external partners and agencies. Understanding of current evidencebased trends in Primary Health Care, Home Care and Community Integration related health care nationally and provincially. Possesses a sound vision of a reformed health care system and an ability to promote teamwork within a rapidly changing environment.
