Clearance from Employee Health, Safety and Wellness is required before starting. Position Summary: This position reports to the Manager of Ambulatory Care, Adult Diabetes Education Centre (ADEC). The successful candidate will provide effective patientfocused diabetes education and clinical monitoring within the outpatient setting and support admitted patients requiring diabetes education. Position Requirements: Baccalaureate preparation in nursing preferred Current Certification of Competence with the College of Nurses of Ontario Certification as a Diabetes Educator required Experience with insulin pump management required Minimum five years recent experience in diabetes management and education including knowledge of theoretical principles of adult learning and change theory Demonstrated skills in facilitating groups, teamwork, and effective communication Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and as a member of an interdisciplinary team Effective organizational, conceptual and leadership skills Excellent teamwork skills and ability to mentor, coach and act as a resource to inpatient units for care of patients with diabetes Excellent critical thinking skills Good attendance record Waterloo Regional Health Network is committed to fair and equitable employment in our recruitment and selection practices.
