Water/Wastewater Process Engineer (P.Eng or EIT) Aplin Executive Search is proud to partner with a leading Alberta-based consulting engineering firm to recruit a Water/Wastewater Process Engineer (P.Eng.) to join their dynamic and growing team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced engineer to lead technical assessments and designs for critical municipal infrastructure projects focused on water and wastewater systems across Western Canada. This role offers exposure to the full project lifecyclefrom predesign through detailed engineering and construction supportalongside a collaborative, multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will bring deep technical expertise in process engineering and infrastructure systems and play a key role in delivering safe, efficient, and innovative solutions to public and private sector clients. Position Overview Reporting to senior leadership, the Process Engineer will be responsible for the evaluation, design, and optimization of water and wastewater systems, including treatment processes, pumping systems, chemical feed systems, and related piping and facility designs. The position involves preparing studies, technical reports, construction drawings, and specifications, while also contributing to project execution in the field. Key Responsibilities Technical Design & Engineering Lead and contribute to the design of water and wastewater systems, including water supply, treatment, distribution, lift stations, and treatment facilities Conduct process engineering design, including sizing and selection of piping, chemical feed systems, and treatment components Coordinate drafting resources and subconsultants to complete detailed design deliverables Develop frontend contract specifications and technical specifications for procurement Studies & Reporting Conduct assessments of existing infrastructure and develop technical reports and recommendations Analyze data, develop solution options, and estimate costs for presentation to clients Compile multi-author reports and ensure consistency and clarity in final documentation Project Management Support Monitor project budgets, schedules, and personal time allocation Contribute to quality assurance, internal review processes, and documentation standards Adapt workflows based on project size, complexity, and available resources Construction & Field Services Assist with construction phase services, including submittal reviews, RFIs, field inspections, and conformance reporting Conduct site visits and field reviews to assess construction quality and alignment with design intent Support project commissioning and system startup activities for water/wastewater infrastructure Mentorship & Collaboration Provide guidance and technical mentorship to junior engineers and technologists Support workflow prioritization, task delegation, and professional development Participate in team reviews and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement Skills & Attributes Strong written and verbal communication skills Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities Independent, selfmotivated work ethic Active learner, engaged in professional development and staying current with industry practices Software Proficiency Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Visio, Microsoft Project, Outlook, and PDF tools Familiarity with AutoCAD and Civil 3D (for coordination with design/drafting teams) is considered an asset Qualifications Bachelors degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering Registration in good standing as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Engineer in Training (E.I.T.) with APEGA Minimum 5 years of experience in water/wastewater design within a consulting engineering environment Valid Class 5 drivers license and ability to travel to client and project sites across Alberta Willingness to conduct occasional overnight travel and work extended hours during critical project phases This position is ideal for a technically driven, clientfocused engineer who thrives in a fastpaced environment and wants to make a meaningful impact on water and wastewater infrastructure projects. #J-18808-Ljbffr
