Research Associate - Department of Oceanography, Dalhousie University Position Summary: Dalhousie Regional Ocean Modelling Group in the Department of Oceanography in Halifax is seeking a highly skilled Research Associate for development and applications of an advanced ocean modelling system for the northwest Atlantic Ocean. The candidate will be a member of a multi-institute research team for the large collaborative project UNCERTAIN-SEA associated with the Transforming Climate Action program (University is located in the vibrant oceanside city of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada () and welcomes 21,000 students from across the country and more than 115 countries around the world. Dalhousie is one of Canadas leading research universities and has a global reputation for excellence in ocean sciences. Responsibilities: Develop and calibrate an advanced coupled ocean current-sea ice-surface wave modelling system for the northwest Atlantic (NWA) Simulate oceanic conditions and extreme events over the region in the past and future using the modelling system Examine mainphysical processes affecting pathways and storage of CO2 over the NWA Disseminate research results through peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations Required Qualifications: A PhD in Physical Oceanography At least 6 years of relevant research experience Significant knowledge and research experience in ocean modelling and wave-current interactions Ability to effectively communicate with colleagues and publish in international journals A record ofeffectively communicatingwith colleagues and publishingresearch results in international journals Status: 40 hours/week Pay Scale: $55,000-$60,000 per annum (plus applicable employee benefits) Duration: 2-year term with possibility of renewal Interested parties should forward a cover letter and current CV to: Jinyu ShengProfessor of Oceanography, Dalhousie University, All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however Canadians and permanent residents will be given priority.
