OverviewJoin to apply for the Nursing Aide/Sterile Processing - Eagle Ridge Hospital role at Fraser Health Authority.We are currently looking to fill a Casual opportunity for a Nursing Aide/Sterile Processing at Eagle Ridge Hospital located in Tri-Cities, B.C. Eagle Ridge Hospital is a 168-bed facility in Port Moody, serving the communities of Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, Anmore and Belcarra, with medical, surgical and cardiac programs and 24/7 emergency services.The Tri-Cities is an informal grouping of three suburban communities (Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody) plus nearby Belcarra and Anmore, offering urban living in a picturesque setting. ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Manager, Health Services or designate, cleans, decontaminates, assembles, sterilizes and distributes supplies, surgical instruments and related equipment for the Operating Room (OR).Disassembles, cleans, washes and reassembles anaesthetic and related equipment as required.Transports anaesthetic and surgical instruments and/or equipment to the assigned area and maintains equipment and supplies per established procedures.Picks surgical supplies/instruments as per established procedure and/or physician's request.Transports specimens and/or patients as needed; performs related clerical duties.Maintains cleanliness of sterilizers, sterile core and instrument room; cleans equipment room and shelving containing sterile and clean supplies.Distributes instrument and/or equipment in accordance with established procedures; issues and/or delivers supplies as requested.Maintains departmental stock of supplies, checks inventory levels, restocks supplies and sets up anaesthetic carts as required; handles supply requests from the OR and receives sterile supplies as needed.Participates in the Departmental Quality Assurance Program by assisting in routine maintenance of departmental equipment (cleaning, checking and testing sterilizers and related equipment).Transports specimens to the laboratory and patients from the OR as required; transports patients to designated areas as needed.Performs clerical duties such as recording workload statistics, answering the telephone, completing maintenance requisitions, maintaining records and files, and related typing duties.Performs other related duties, as assigned.QualificationsEducation and ExperienceGrade 12; successful completion of Sterile Supply Processing Program; plus one year of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.Skills and AbilitiesKnowledge of surgical and medical terminologyMathematical aptitudeAbility to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writingAbility to deal effectively with othersAbility to operate related equipmentPhysical ability to perform the duties of the positionAbility to organize workBenefitsComprehensive, 100% employer-paid benefitsGenerous vacation time (up to four weeks for eligible employees)Benefit portability (transfer benefits from another HEABC employer)Immediate pension enrollment (defined municipal pension plan)Maternity top-up (87% during maternity leave)TransLink pass subsidy (50% subsidy on TransLink passes)About Fraser HealthFraser Health is the heart of health care for over two million people in Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley in British Columbia, on the lands of the Coast Salish and Nlakapamux Nations, home to 32 First Nations within the Fraser Salish region.
