Ottawa, ON Permanent Full-time, Hybrid work Purpose of Role: Weir Marine Engineering is currently looking for a highly experienced and dedicated Emission Security (EMSEC) and Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) Specialist to provide sustained, expert support in the execution and advancement of a comprehensive Naval E3 program. This crucial program supports the operational effectiveness and safety of the entire Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) fleet. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving the development of naval policies, designs, methodologies, installations, and testing procedures, ensuring our vessels remain adaptable and compliant with evolving operational and security requirements. Key Responsibilities: Provide expert guidance and technical support for all aspects of the Naval E3 Program across the RCN fleet. Develop and update naval policies, standards, and procedures relating to EMSEC and E3. Design and validate installation methodologies for new and modified shipboard systems, ensuring compliance with EMSEC/E3 requirements. Conduct, supervise, and analyze results from a variety of specialized E3 and EMSEC tests and trials on naval platforms. Demonstrate 100% commitment to zero harm behaviours in support of developing a worldclass safety culture. Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications: Mandatory: Must obtain a Government of Canada security clearance, which necessitates Canadian citizenship and a minimum of 10 years of continuous residence in Canada. Mandatory: Bachelor degree in Science or Engineering, or a Diploma in Technology (or equivalent QL6 military training). Mandatory: A minimum of 2years of cumulative work experience within the last 10years in each of the following design and analysis activities: Design Standards Development for EMSEC and Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) specifically for naval platforms. Review design requirements and perform comprehensive impact/risk assessments of shipboard systems and naval platforms related to E3/EMSEC. Conduct indepth studies on technical topics including EMI cable coupling effects, Radio Frequency (RF) safety requirements and compliance, crypto ground methodologies and installations, power filter selection and application, US MILSTDs gap analysis in relation to RCN requirements, and assessment and measurement of cable shielding effectiveness. Mandatory: Direct, handson experience in the execution and preparation of: TEMPEST Testing to evaluate the unintentional compromising emanations of electronic equipment. NonSpecific Operational Test Procedures (NONSTOP) Testing on naval platforms. Zoning Trials to define and assess electromagnetic zones. MILSTD461 Testing, including performing or preparing test procedures and test plans compliant.
