PURPOSE OF THE ROLE: ''Program'' at Camp Evergreen encompasses nearly all guest-facing experiences, excluding food services and facilities. Programs are central to building relationships and delivering outdoor and faith-based experiences. The Program Director serves on the Program Team alongside the Director of Ministries and Coalition Students and is a member of the Senior Leadership Team. This role is primarily responsible for the development, implementation, evaluation, and renewal of Camp Evergreen''s programs throughout the year. A significant focus of this role is the spiritual formation, leadership development, and mentorship of seasonal staff and Coalition Students, thereby strengthening ministry effectiveness and responsible resource management. The Program Director is an active, visible leader who models mature, Christ-centred leadership and a posture of ongoing growth. Team: Program, Senior Leadership Team (Management) CORE RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. LEADERSHIP AND SPIRITUAL DEVELOPMENT - 30% Actively mentor and develop seasonal staff across all program areas and seasons. Collaborate with the Program Team to design and deliver effective Seasonal Training Weeks, with follow-up training as needed, including mentoring and spiritual development throughout the year. During summer operations, assist in leading the Summer Leadership Team (''B Team''), including participation in All-Staff and Daily Meetings. Ensure staff adherence to Camp Evergreen''s policies, procedures, and Code ofConduct, and assist with disciplinary processes as required. Maintain awareness of current trends and issues within Christian ministry and youth culture. 2. COACHING & DEVELOPMENT % Engage staff in weekly coaching and skill development on activities and in our camp program. Utilize guest and staff feedback to assess training needs of staff and improve program delivery. Using research and staff feedback, continue to improve and innovate our Outdoor Education and summer camp activities. Help staff thrive by working alongside them as they learn, struggle, and grow. 3. CAMP PROGRAMMING - 25% In Collaboration with the Hospitality Director, evaluate, improve, and innovate new outdoor activities and programs for our Guest Groups. In collaboration with the Program Team, plan and oversee summer camp programs, outdoor education curriculum, and annual retreats. Elements include: i.Booking Speakers/Worship Teams ii. Recruiting staff and volunteers iii. Theme (Fun and Spiritual), innovations in games, schedules, and programs 4. ACTIVITY EQUIPMENT % Ensure all activity equipment is well-maintained, safe, and compliant with industry standards, including Alberta Camping Association guidelines. Maintain a working knowledge of industry requirements and recommendations for each activity area, including our insurance providers on risk management and liability considerations. Research and network with other camps and relevant industries to identify new activities and support program growth and innovation EXPECTATIONS OF ALL CAMP EVERGREEN MANAGEMENT TEAM MEMBERS: Uphold Camp Evergreen''s mission, vision, values, and strategic plan with excellence. Demonstrate flexibility and a willingness to assist beyond defined responsibilities when needed. Contribute positively to a unified staff culture that prioritizes teamwork and share ownership. ATTRIBUTES AND CHARACTER: A personal profession of faith in Jesus and active participation in an evangelical church. Four to five years of combined experience in camping ministry, leadership, coaching, and/or program development. Proven discretion and compassion when handling sensitive or confidential matters. Good health and stamina. Valid driver''s license and clean background checks. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, including: Ability to build and maintain healthy relationships, including conflict resolution. Strong ''upfront'' presentation and speaking abilities. Open to feedback and improvement. Shows initiative and follow-through with excellence. Leads by example and has infectious enthusiasm for the ministry we lead. Ability to recruit and work effectively with volunteers. NATURE OF CAMP MINISTRY Camp Evergreen operates a mission-based organization with seasonal rhythms and non-traditional work hours. Days off and statutory holidays may occur irregularly in accordance with Alberta Labour Standards (Manager Level). The nature of camp ministry is much like working on a farm. There are periods of high intensity balanced by seasonal ebb and flow.
