Apply today About the job As a Lead Engineer, Electrical, you will: Provide in-house electrical engineering design services Supervise, mentor, and evaluate activities of in-house design work Oversee and coordinate work from professional engineering service providers Lead, plan, supervise, instruct, support, and evaluate activities of the Electrical Engineering Section''s staff Provide expert technical advice and support on electrical infrastructure and policy matters Provide project management for planning, design and coordination of transportation related electrical infrastructure projects Lead or participate in development of new electrical policies, procedures and standards, and electrical programs About the office: As part of the Electrical Engineering Delivery office (EEDO) the Ministry''s Centre of Excellence you will play a key role with in-house design, capital planning, asset management, staff technical development, policy development, and standards modernization. The portfolio includes: Highway lighting and high-mast pole systems Traffic signal systems EV charging infrastructure Ferry docks, movable bridges, and remote airport power systems Power distribution and electrical systems What you bring to the team Mandatory requirements You currently have accreditation as a Professional Engineer in a Canadian Province or Territory, and you will obtain a Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO) license as a condition of accepting this position. The position requires the successful candidate to have a valid G license or equivalent. The offer of employment is conditional upon the successful candidate providing proof that s/he has a valid driver''s license upon being hired. Technical Knowledge and Skill: You will have: Knowledge of the theories, principles, practices, standards and related legislation/regulations of electrical engineering with relevance to the design, construction and maintenance of roadway lighting, traffic signals, and power distribution systems Ability to understand and interpret engineering plans, details, wiring diagrams, technical reports, and relevant legislation/regulations. Ability to operate and manipulate computer software for the purposes of engineering and operational design, design simulation/modelling and using computer-aided design (CAD) software packages Knowledge of computer applications (e.g. word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation), to prepare briefing notes, reports, recommendations, correspondences, and to create/update asset management inventory and file management systems Familiarity with existing and emerging electrical and electronic technology (e.g. lighting, power generation) Leadership, Project Management and Organizational Skills: You have: Demonstrated ability to direct and coordinate multi-disciplined project teams in the design and preparation of construction contracts Demonstrated ability to plan, schedule, and coordinate several concurrent projects of varying degrees of complexity and size, individually or within a team environment. Analytical and Problem Solving Skills and Knowledge of Economic Analysis: You can define complex and specialized electrical design, construction, and maintenance issues (e.g. power outages/faults) You have knowledge of economic analysis methods including design cost, construction cost, maintenance cost, benefit-cost, and lifecycle cost assessments for program planning and prioritization of corridor needs Communication, Interpersonal, Consultation and Negotiation Skills You can establish working relationships with and negotiate agreements with internal and external stakeholders You have oral and written communication to make presentations, prepare technical reports and documentation You have proven ability to make accurate recommendations on issues of political sensitivity (e.g. high mast lightening trespass) Don''t meet every qualification?
