The Assessor Coordinator (Degree) Senior will provide a range of screening, triage, assessment, treatment and case management services to a population of acute and chronic mentally disordered adults as well as children/ youth and their families. The incumbent will provide consultation and coordination of service including prioritizing and assigning to multidisciplinary staff or referring to community agencies. Also provides evaluation of clinical interventions, supervision and professional and public education regarding mental health issues and resources. The Assessor Coordinator (Degree) Senior provides formal supervision (clinical, professional and administrative) to other employees and students.Human Resources Exemption: NoExperienceMinimum of two (2) years recent post graduate experience working within community mental health and addiction services, with combined experience working with adults, children/youth and their families in a community mental health service setting.EducationRecognized degree in Social Work or a degree in nursing.Post-graduate training or courses in psychiatric nursing is an asset.Must have a current practicing registration with their professional association.Knowledge and AbilitiesDemonstrates a high degree of knowledge and skill in assessment, triage, treatment, case management, community outreach and crisis interventions.Knowledge of normal child and adolescent development and psychopathology. Knowledge of family systems, and models for therapeutic intervention strategies appropriate to the treatment of child, adolescent mental health diagnoses and family problems. Knowledge of interventions empirically validated or supported by best practice literature.Knowledgeof a variety of mental health disorders and addiction and harm reduction strategies required to enable clients to sustain stability.Abilityto identify, implement and evaluate areas of client difficulty across a wide range of clinical presentation and formulate evidence based intervention.Abilityto implement a variety of intervention strategies (individual or group) for individuals with mental health and addiction problems in a community based setting, including but not limited to assessment, triage, treatment, case management.Knowledgeand practical application of the Mental Health Services Act, the Family Services Act and the Health Information Privacy Act.Demonstratedcultural competency skills.Organizationalskills, including the ability to maintain priorities while managing multiple and diverse demands.Demonstrate strong leadership abilities and the ability to work within a change management model. Interpersonal competence, including effective problem solving and conflict resolutions skills.Knowledgeof community resources and demonstrated ability to develop and maintain consulting relationships within a multidisciplinary team, interagency programs and across the community of human services.Abilityto work collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary team, and independently to manage complex and multiple demands.Soundcommunication skills both written and oral.
