Area Manager - BC North Pet Valu Terrace, British Columbia, Canada Salary: $60,000 $65,000 per year. Essential Responsibilities Safety Prioritize the safety of ACEs and Devoted Pet Lovers by maintaining a safe and clean store environment. Ensure completion of monthly Safe & Ready reports for own store and additional stores. Ensure the proper health, feeding, care and wellbeing of all pets sold in store. Effectively open and close the store while following company procedures. Compassion Greet and acknowledge every person and pet with respect. Approach each interaction with appreciation and genuine care. Provide positive, consistent and solutionoriented service. Plan and execute meaningful community events both inside and outside the store. Develop partnerships with rescue agencies and other local animal care providers. Expertise Ask questions and listen to Devoted Pet Lovers needs to recommend the best products and services. Drive sales, customer service and key performance indicators (KPIs) to achieve overall store performance goals. Maintain current knowledge of pet industry standards through learning systems and onthejob training. Maintain the stability and reputation of the store. Oversee all instore services (selfwash, grooming, etc.), ensuring safety standards and business growth. Complete financial reporting and adhere to operational metrics standards. Efficiency Implement efficient operational processes, including ordering, inventory management, floor moves, and mandatory paperwork. Execute all strategic corporate initiatives. Follow, communicate and enforce all company policies and procedures. Implement marketing initiatives at company and local levels, following communication and branding guidelines. Use the point of sale (POS) system according to company guidelines. Leadership Maintain professionalism and a positive attitude in all workplace communications. Hire and develop Store Managers and ACEs committed to excellence. Coaching, performance management, and onthejob training using TellShowDoReview. Write and deliver performance appraisals, IDPs and improvement opportunities when appropriate. Balance workload through delegation, coaching, supervision and motivating teams of ACEs. Manage a multiunit environment, ensuring all stores meet goals and standards. Promote store manager and ACE engagement by adapting leadership style to individual needs. Recognize successful performance through STAR feedback. Participate in leadership meetings with district teams. Experience, Education, Certifications High school degree or equivalent; college degree preferred. At least five years in a retail environment, with two or more years in a management position. Working knowledge of POS system(s). Demonstrated interpersonal and sales skills. Demonstrated ability to lead a team. Job Requirements Manage a multiunit environment. Work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays. Be available for afterhours support to area stores. A valid drivers license may be required.
