Working with the Richard & Elizabeth Currie Chief, Education & Programming, the Manager actively guides the AGOs Courses, Camps & Studio Programming to develop, implement, and assess programming that responds to the needs and interests of our diverse audiences. The role involves identifying significant trends in global contemporary visual arts learning and programming, supporting campers and students in our care, and collaborating with colleaguesboth internally and externallyto create and realize all programs in alignment with AGO values. Rate of pay: $89,180 $111,456 per annum. What is this position responsible for? Program Strategy and Development Guide a collaborative Courses, Camps, and Studio Programming team in developing and delivering studiobased courses for all ages, camps, and institutionwide studio programming, including corporate, community, and internal workshops that enhance engagement and learning through the AGOs exhibitions and collections. Contribute to the development of the AGO as a site of dynamic global contemporary programs; build and initiate positive relationships with museum colleagues and the larger cultural community locally, nationally, and internationally. Position the AGO as a leader in Course, Camp, and Studio Programming both broadly and within the museum field. Collaborate with the Development Division to enhance fundraising opportunities and donor appreciation. Collaborate with Brand and Business Development to strategically place our programs in the market to meet our audience and revenue goals. Staff Management, Operations, and Visitor Experience Manage and support the logistical planning and onsite coordination of all courses, camps, and studio programs. Determine and monitor adherence to professional programming practices, ensuring programs deliver stated institutional goals and visitor outcomes. Manage the work performance of related Courses and Camps staff with support from the Richard & Elizabeth Currie Chief, Education & Programming, including hiring, training, assigning, scheduling, monitoring work completion, and managing performance. Provide bestpractice training, mentorship, and management of Program Assistants, Program Coordinators, Adult Art Instructors, Children and Youth Art Instructors, seasonal Summer Camp staff, and volunteers to ensure successful programs that align with AODA and Health & Safety standards as well as departmental goals and the AGO Mission and Vision. Advise and support staff and instructors on best practices related to the care, supervision, and safeguarding of children and youth under 17, as well as campers and students of all ages with developmental or physical disabilities, ensuring alignment with custodyofcare standards, AODA requirements, health and safety protocols, and AGO policies. Oversee, develop, shape, and implement critical schedules for AGO course, camp, and studio programs, ensuring all deliverables are met through liaison with visitor services, facilities, security, communications, design, development, and other stakeholders. Manage delivery of services in accordance with department systems and procedures, apply collective agreements, and AGOs policies on security, administration, human resources, and workplace health and safety. Liaise with all artists, performers, speakers, and guests to ensure programs are organized and implemented with excellence. Lead the timely and effective resolution of inquiries, conflicts or concerns involving participants, families, instructors, and staff, applying best practices in conflict resolution while balancing individual needs, institutional policies, and the safety and wellbeing of all participants. Program Evaluation, Partnerships, and Public Engagement Develop suitable metrics and evaluation tools to collect and analyze data for all programs, better understanding and articulating impact over short and extended periods of time (seasonally, annually, and yearoveryear), and informing decisions about programming, audience engagement, attendance, revenue, and improvement areas. Oversee the delivery of copy and images for all programs. Promote the AGO to the art community and the general public; act as host and speak publicly. Build positive relationships with external stakeholders; participate in AGOs public, Board, and donor programs and assist with donor cultivation when required. Financial Planning and Resource Management Under the Chief, Education and Programmings directives, manage expenses and budgets, set revenue targets to achieve annual financial goals in collaboration with the Associate Director, Lifelong Learning, Engagement and Operations. Administer departmental budgets and determine the best allocation of funds to achieve financial equilibrium. Performs other duties and projects as assigned. What are we looking for? Demonstrated minimum of 46 years of direct experience in program development, budgeting, administration, production, and supervision of camps and studiobased courses, including management and supervision of instructors, artists, volunteers, program production, coordination, and communication for diverse public audiences. Demonstrated minimum of 57 years of direct experience working with students and/or campers of varying ages (children and youth ages 218 and adults 18+) and varying skill sets and needs, including children and adults with disabilities. Demonstrates extensive understanding of and has direct management experience working with a team that takes Custody of Care of children, students or campers. Graduate level degree, or equivalent experience in StudioBased Visual Arts, Art Education, and/or Education with relevant studio experience. Strong knowledge of museum education best practices regarding studio programming, intergenerational community programs, visual art, and contemporary culture, accessibility, diversity, equity, and inclusion. Minimum 35 years of related experience using software to schedule, plan, and coordinate with multiple stakeholders internal and external. Knowledge of CampBrain or similar software to coordinate course or camp administration is an asset. Strong experience leading group facilitation and team training in a studiobased and/or educational environment. Excellent conflict resolution and customer service skills. Highly developed organizational and public relations skills, interpersonal and verbal. Effective oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated experience processing complex information efficiently and effectively while adhering to tight timelines.
