Join our dynamic Day Camp team, where every day is different, and you will always be engaged with meaningful work!The Day Camp Director oversees and coordinates the day camp program, supporting staff to deliver safe, engaging, and highquality experiences for campers. The role manages daily operations, including scheduling, resources, administration, and communication with parents and staff. It ensures compliance with health, safety, and program standards while fostering a positive and inclusive environment. The position balances leadership with handson involvement to guide staff development and support program delivery.In this role, you will:Assist Senior Day Camp Coordinators and Regional Directors in planning and coordinating the hiring process for camp staff, ensuring interviewing and hiring documentation is completed in a timely mannerProvide onsite leadership and supervision to camp staff through training, coaching, and monitoring performance to support staff in meeting the expectations of their rolesCoordinate daily operations of the day camp program, including creating and completing setup and takedown checklists and designing schedules to ensure all camper groups participate in the activities outlined in program manualsMonitor the delivery of safe, highquality programs and ensure staff have all required supplies while incorporating day camp values beads dailyEnsure administrative tasks are completed accurately and on time, including payroll paperwork, staff scheduling, camper attendance tracking, parent communication, and YMCA visa reconciliation, and submit documentation to Administrative Coordinator Staff & Camp OperationsAdminister parent and staff communication by checking camp email and voicemail daily and responding to all parent/guardian inquiries in a courteous and prompt mannerAttend all staff trainings and meetings, arriving on time and actively participating to contribute to the development of all camp staffEnsure Health & Safety procedures are followed and maintained, and contribute to the cleaning, safety, and maintenance of camp sitesAct as a positive role model for campers and fellow staff by embodying YMCA values, policies and procedures, Day Camp conditions of employment/guidelines, and Ontario Camping Association standardsPerform other duties as assignedYou bring:Postsecondary education (or currently enrolled) preferred or equivalent experienceStandard First Aid & CPRC required by the first day of employment and valid until at least the last day of your contractMinimum 1year experience in childoriented programs; campspecific settings an assetSupervisory experience an assetDemonstrated ability to work well both independently and in a team environmentWelldeveloped interpersonal and relationshipbuilding skills, with the ability to establish rapport and communicate effectively with families, staff, and volunteersExcellent communication skills and ability to lead a group of childrenCommitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and building a sense of belongingFocus on the health, safety and wellbeing of all children, youth, and vulnerable people in YMCA programs including understanding legal and moral obligations related to reporting suspected child abuse to Child Protection ServicesYMCA Competencies: Accountable, RelationshipBuilder, ImprovementOrientated, Team Player & Leader, Equity and Wellbeing PromoterWhy work for the YMCA?The YMCA of Greater Toronto is a charity that ignites the potential in people, helping them grow, lead, and give back to their communities.
