Join to apply for the Laboratory Analyst role at Jackson Family WinesPosition SummaryUnder the direction of the Lab Manager, the lab analyst will perform routine wine and juice analysis on both fermenting and finished wines. They will also calibrate equipment, troubleshoot data, manage workflow, enter data into online databases (LIMS and BIMS), help train harvest interns, and work on special projects as needed. This position requires the ability to follow directions safely, accurately, and in a timely manner. This is an excellent opportunity to work closely with both winemaking and cellar teams, as well as a variety of brands such as Freemark Abbey, Cardinale, Lokoya, La Jota, Mount Brave, and custom crush clients.Essential Functions/DutiesFollow lab S.O.P.s as well as adhere to all winery safety protocolsDaily set up and calibration of lab equipmentPreventative maintenance of lab equipment when neededEffectively and efficiently perform routine wine analyses as well as communicate results to the appropriate teamsAccurately pull samples from tanks and barrelsPrepare samples for analysisLog all samples and results to online databases BIMS and LIMSReview results and re-run samples as neededSet up bench trials, filterability tests, cold stability tests, and heat stability tests as neededResponsible for glass inspection and quality control during bottlingMonitor tank and barrel fermentations throughout harvestParticipate in training of harvest internsCommunicate and work well with the lab manager, lab staff, and other departmentsParticipate in general housekeeping to maintain the cleanliness of the labJob RequirementsA degree or coursework in Enology or other scientific fields is required.Previous winery and/or lab experience is preferred.This position requires excellent oral and written communication, computer proficiency, and organizational skills.Availability to work flexible shifts and overtime during harvest is required.Physical RequirementsAn ability to stand for long periods of time, reach with hands and arms, sit, walk, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift 50 pounds of weight (a case of wine).Must successfully complete post-offer pre-employment physical.WAGE TRANSPARENCYThe base pay for this role ranges from $21.08 - $30.02 per hour.
