The ideal candidate will be part of a growing team that supports all aspects of the construction process by performing innovative design engineering through brainstorming conceptual designs, performing and/or reviewing structural calculations, developing plans, scheduling tasks to meet client needs, and mitigating risk to keep our construction crews safe. Our Temp Works group supports design-build tasks that include: Bridge erection & demolition, Cofferdam design, Critical crane lifts, Erection sequencing & staged construction analysis, Hoisting and jacking, Deep foundations and dewatering, Excavation support, Marine engineering, Pile drive analysis, Ductwork analysis, Falsework design, Temporary bridge & trestle, estimate support, Working surface design, On-site engineering support.District Overview: Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering's Design Build Management team drives clients to turn to Kiewit during all stages of design-build projects to manage multi-disciplinary design teams to improve schedule, control costs, and minimize risk. We offer top-notch health benefits, RRSP plan, and growth opportunities.Location: This position could be based out of a multitude of offices: Oakville, ON | Burnaby, BC | Calgary, ABResponsibilitiesDevelop drawings and calculations for temporary works and construction methods including:Heavy lift plans (site logistics, equipment selection, design of custom rigging and lifting devices, hoisting and jacking systems, custom tools, and crane pad designs)Erection procedures or planned sequences related to construction or demolition operationsEvaluation of existing structures for construction loads and/or demolition planningStructural analysis to ensure stability during the temporary condition of new bridges, viaducts, buildings, tunnels, and other structures (e.g., construction staging, design of temporary falsework systems, and rebar cage hoisting and support)Support of excavation systems or cofferdams for construction below gradeTemporary bridges, trestles, work platforms, fall protection systems, formwork, and other features relating to construction operationsPerform and/or review others calculations and design drawings in accordance with codes, standards, client criteria, and structural theoriesEnsure quality and accuracy of the design deliverablesIdentify design risks and assist with risk mitigation planningAssist in Project Management (budgets, schedules, quality control, coordination with clients)Other responsibilities include: on-site design engineering support, on-site inspections, training and mentoring E.I.T.sQualificationsExperience with temporary structures and/or construction engineeringAccredited Bachelor of Science in Civil or Structural Engineering; Masters degree or greater in Structural Engineering preferred8+ years of relevant engineering experienceProfessional Engineer licensure or eligibility within CanadaStrong academic knowledge of structural engineeringExperience with engineering design software (AutoCAD, BlueBeam, MathCAD, RISA-3D, etc.) is an advantageExperience working in a team settingExcellent communication skills, both oral and writtenStrong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary teamAbility to organize and handle multiple project assignmentsAbility to travel, TDY, and/or relocate based on business needsAbility to access all points of a construction site in varied climates and environmentsOther RequirementsRegular, reliable attendanceWork productively and meet deadlinesCommunicate and interact effectively with supervisors, employees, and othersWork safely and follow instructions and policiesWork during normal hours with overtime and weekend requirements as neededMay work at various locations with varying conditionsCompensation & BenefitsBase Compensation: $100,214 - $130,822. Actual compensation varies by education, experience, skillset, and location.
