Job Description Because of our rapid growth, we are looking for an Accounting & Compliance Operations Manager to join our North American Finance and Accounting Team. This is a mid-level position for an individual with 8+ years'' experience in an insurance brokerage environment, with opportunity for accelerated progression within our expanding firm. The candidate will help design, implement, and manage operational processes for functions including Accounts Receivables and Payables, Billing, Taxes, and Compliance. The candidate will be responsible for coordinating with many teams throughout the organization and externally to improve our operational efficiency ensure compliance across multiple jurisdictions. The candidate should be highly motivated to learn, drive continuous improvement, able to effectively work with diverse teams and take on increasing responsibilities in both this and other areas. Position is in person based in our Oakville, Ontario office, with expectation of quarterly travel to our head office in Jericho, NY. CORE ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES Oversee redesign of operational processes impacting Finance function, including AR/AP, Canadian sales taxes, Surplus Lines, and overall compliance with GAAP, SOX and general good governance. Translate requirements of Accounting and Compliance into practical, scalable processes. Accurately record and detail all steps involved in various processes to ensure clarity and consistency. This includes creation of manuals, flowcharts, etc. that outline each procedure Review current state and proactively identify issues. Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to standardize operations across the organization end better enable consistent scale. This will include regular updating to reflect any changes/improvements. Assist in accounts receivable and payable matters for North America Manage cash application function to ensure quality, timely application of all cash, including needed research and problem resolution Perform fiduciary accounting responsibilities including fiduciary cash split calculations and movement of cash from Trust to Operating accounts. Manage and assist in the development and maintenance of accounting files and records, while identifying and implementing operational improvements. Develop a strong control environment around all fiduciary processes.
